Dumb and Dumber
Office Space
Austin Powers
Multiple Sandler movies
American Pie
Tommy Boy

I kinda put Clerks, Big Lebowski, and Waynes World on a different plane due to cultural relevance

They don't make funny shit like that any more

Anyone remember a movie titled Hollywood Knights. I remember watching it when I first got cable. I always thought it was hilarious. Early 80s maybe

and it's funny to see how many of these comedies are driven by SNL talent

That’s why I mourned the day I removed snow from my dvr. It pisses me off what ithas become.

Even the all star year (83?), as bad as it was, was still head and shoulders above the garbage put out today.

I'm guessing most of the people that think the stuff in the 70/80's is funnier are probably nearing 50

It's an age thing I suspect. That's what you watched at a certain age. I kind of consider SNL 2010 a little different due to the fact people don't sit around and watch SNL on a Saturday night anymore but a lot of the movies are funny with their talent

I’d add Breakfast Club and Major League to the 80s.

Holy Grail (75) and Airplane (80) are two of the funniest movies of all time, doesn't matter how old you are. it's not like watching an adam sandler film in the 90s and thinking this is funny and then watching jack and jill/grownups/pixels/etc and thinking his earlier stuff was only funny because you were 10 (hell maybe it was, but i think there's a difference).

Adam Sandler is a pretty bad example because his humor is childish anyway. My greater point isn't that Airplane isn't funny because I agree it is it's that we talk about how "the good old days are so much funnier" and what I'm saying there is a certain nostalgia for those that grew up around that time versus a movie today.

nah, hit your point exactly in the nostalgia factor. anyone who says things were funnier/you can't make that movie today are just a bunch of stuffy cunts with their head up their arse. who the fuck cares what they say? just laugh at what you want to.
