LOL. Eat my shorts. An ignorant lackey like you would do well on the Trump team. Learn about baseball and it’s measure of players since you have no favorite.

IDK jvett. I have a tendency to believe we are over-paying for a guy who has MLB stats but... ... they are not as good as you'd expect from a guy who asking for monies North of $300 mil. Does he make others better around him? IDK? So I see the pursuit of this guy by the Phillies equivocal.

BTW, since when did you go hating on Trump? LOL!

It seems no player is worth even millions annually, that's just free agency as it matured since 1975. Teams today are worth $1 to $4 billion; players just want their fair share. The alternative is to return to the plantation system and nobody wants that. If teams can buy a pennant then the Phillies have to jump in when they have the money. Why not, it's their turn.

Our goal should be to compete with the Yankees, Boston, Dodgers, etc., or else we're clowns. lol. So we must pay up! Plus Phils will go from 2.1 million to 3.5 million in attendance. A deal will pay for itself in the long run 1.4 mill x $40/fan = $56 mill/yr. x 10 years = $560 million!

In the case of Harper, his OBP alone will help the team to be a winner. The stats I cited tell his worth.

I'm a partial Trump hater; he needs to back up his statements with some facts based on real data charts so people are less confused. So should the Dems.

I get the impression that Harper has not gotten what he wants from the team he wants. I feel neither wants to play in Phila. It is a great place to play and live if you put out the effort. If you dog it, it is the last place you want to play.

It is true. Philly can be great. But I think playing for our manager FLEX has a down side. He is a metrics madman
when it comes to stats and game planning. He takes away the human element from the game.

Phils will sign Harper for $350 million tomorrow so he can have a day off prior to the first ST game on Friday. Bank on it, smoke it, roll it, drink to it!

hopefully someone has been throwing a ball at his face, so he's not too far behind everyone else on the team.

The valuation just can't be on one player, it has to be on the situation of the market, the situation of your team, the situation of the scarcity of 26 year old All Star, MVP type players..

i feel Machado is a better player than Harper. I also understand Harper is a better monetarily for the team. How much more is that worth for the phillies, because Harper is going to want more.

I think Machado will likely be a more consistent performer for the first 5 years or so, but I think Harper has higher potential and likely a longer shelf life. Harper has certainly shown tendencies to have really tough seasons.

i agree to an extent that Harper has put up bigger seasons, but he's also played with better talent around him, while Machado was with a consistently declining Adam Jones and nothing else, while having to go up against the AL East

is it worth paying him an extra 30-40? again, he'll bring more fans to the seats and we don't need to act like we all don't know why.

Take a few extra days, Bryce. No need to sign before ST on Friday. Be at CBP on Sunday and sign then. Hell, it will be 60 degrees and you get the feel of the freakin park (think, 40 homers), plus celebrate your $350 million deal with a cheesesteak and a Yuengling since the vendor chefs will be making a pre-season dry run. Done deal!

end of the day, i'm cool if they don't sign bryce, Dallas is my iffy, they're clearly doing some unorthodox stuff in Houston, can he bring those cheating ways to the Phillies staff? if so, he's worth his weight in gold, or whatever... Fuck paying Kimbrel for all I know Neris gets his shit together and has a much better year than Craig (i said craig with a huge amount of disdain).

Kimbrel could help the Phils but actually it’s fun watching Philly fans mimick his chicken wing delivery. Lol.
