As I was walking the dog I looked back at this, a topic my wife and I discuss from time to time. We've taken a ton of trips, and as a teen my brother and I flew around the world twice to visit our dad who was living in Malaysia, but I'm just discussing this region. These were my favorite.

1. St John. There is no s in St John, for some reason people new to the area don't get that. I happen to believe the blue water of this part of the world is the prettiest thing on Earth and St John is pretty awesome.

2. Grand Canyon, Arizona, New Mexico. I honestly didn't think the GC could possibly live up to the hype but damned if it didn't. Santa Fe is one of my favorite places I've ever visited.

3. Canadian Rockies. The drive from Banff to Jasper was simply spectacular

4. Alaska. Some are surprised this isn't higher but having been to British Columbia and the Rockies it wasn't all that different. It was still great, glad we went, but once was enough.

5. Coastal Maine. We started in Baxter State Park which was OK but not worth the hassle of booking 8 month ahead. But the Maine coast line, Bar Harbor etc, was really great.

the Maine coast is happening in September for me with a couple college buddies. There are some good breweries up that way and I am really looking forward to seeing Maine again.

I have been to the Canyon, but with family. I would go again in heartbeat and do it right.

Alaska is also on my list. I have a cousin there.

Honestly, haven't done a whole lot of North American trips, aside from visiting cities or the beach.

Alaska is best done on a cruise. On the stop in Skagway we drove to Emerald Lake. One of the prettiest drives I can remember.

I've been to Acadia National Park a few times. Still one of my favorite places.

I'll have to add St John to my list.

But really... how can any list of top places in North America not include Disneyworld?

In no particular order...

Grand Canyon, hiked north to south rim on an 8 day trip. Brutal. Hot af and just gnarly, ankle-busting country. You'd swear every plant has a thorn. Awesome af tho.

Road trip, tenting it, to Yellowstone, Badlands, Mt. Rushmore and Devil's Tower. 8 days

I live like, 20 miles from Glacier Park. Been all over it. It's incredible.

Hawaii

First trip to Disneyland with the kids.

HM: Keywest was fun af.

Done an east coast and west coast with daughter.

West coast, Alabama to Canada and back

Rafted Glen Canyon

She played in a WSOP event in Vegas

Salt Lake to Oregon to Seattle

Glacier NP

Calgary for Horse Show

Couple days at Yellowstone

Devils Tower

Wall Drug to Mt Rushmore over to Whiteman AFB to see the stealths fly.

East Coast, Alabama to Canada and back

Horse shows in NY and NJ

NYC, she got to see the Towers in 2000, we walked from there all the way to Central Park to take in all the different sections.

Lake Placid for a bobsled run

Camping in a Canada NP

Camped the whole way, just the 2 of us, had some interesting adventures.

Husband and I have done the Alabama to Keys run a few time with side stop in Sanibel/Captiva. We printed off a list of crazy sites in the Keys and checked them off as we went.

I said 5 damnit! :)

We saw the ski jumpers training in Lake Placid during the summer, you can go right up by the take off and watch them fly by and float through the air. One of the coolest experience I've ever had.

I've never been to the Keys, I think that drive would be awesome. But I heard it was a bit overrated.

Driving the California coast from LA to San Fran in a Mustang convertible was awesome. I would do that again. I'd spend more time in Big Sur and then head to Napa for some wine this time though.

The Keys are a good time. Flew into Miami and drove. Stopped at a couple cool spots on the way (Robert is Here, Robbie's Marina, etc). Got to our place and rented bikes and pedaled around the island for a long weekend

I didn't get to see the Grand Canyon when I went because there was a blizzard and visibility was zero. I want to do that and Sedona again.

Outer Banks

Did not like: Vegas

Great call ill, the the Pacific Coast Highway, especially going south as you are on the ocean side, is one of the great drives in the country

hiked/camped 10 days in the Maze district of Canyonlands, then floated the Colorado down to Lake Powell. I wouldn't recommend this trip unless you're JAF and don't have isolation anxieties.

Tampa-Naples-Everglades-Miami-Key West-Dry Tortugas NP-Ft. Meyers

Moab, Utah...could spend a lifetime there and not see it all

I've hiked the entire CDT during 5 separate summers (more scenery than one fully fit man should see in a lifetime)

Yellowstone and Grand Teton moose and wolf hunt.
