Yesterday I decided to get a subscription to The Athletic. I've heard great things about it. I'm always reluctant to pay for subscriptions to any news site, but so far it is yet to disappoint. I figured if I can spend in excess of $60 at a bar I can spend less than that on a website that apparently has great content.

Five recruits who could define the 2020 recruiting class for...

I've learned some stuff I didn't previously know. Kelee Ringo (247 composite's #10 overall prospect, #2 CB) is from Tacoma and played his freshman year at Bellarmine Prep. Probably explains why 247's crystal ball has him 50/50 between UW and Texas.

Ayden Hector (Eastside Catholic) is projected to USC and this article points out that his father played safety at USC.

Crazy to think that Sav'ell Smalls (#4 overall) is right now probably the greatest football recruit to come out of this state in the modern era and that the class of 2021 has a guy rated even higher J.T. Tuimoloau (#1 overall).

UW has an incredible opportunity to improve even more upon the 2018 and 2019 classes in 2020 and 2021 classes.

No kidding. I mentioned it before and feel bad talking shit about a kid, but if he wasn't local and such an elite talent I doubt he would be the type of guy that we'd be going after (see Gee Scott Jr.).

Zion Alefosio has several Pac-12 schools on his short list

Of note:

“I like Washington a lot and plan to camp with them and hopefully get that offer. That’s where my mom wants me to go, she lives out there so if they offer me, I might just commit on the spot. If I don’t commit early, I’ll go through the process and take all my visits and play the process out. I want to take all my trips no matter what but right now, I don't have anything set up."

Zion Alefosio, Villa Park, Safety

Byron Murphy's mother quoted in The Athletic. You really have to love what we're building.

“We had a coach show up at 3 a.m. at the door the night before,” said Murphy’s mother, Shannon Strickland. “They were not stopping. They wouldn’t let go. They had his head a little confused. He was sick. He wasn’t sleeping. He couldn’t focus at school. It was a horrible experience, to be honest. I just prayed and kept telling God to please direct him to where he needs to be. I knew in my heart the whole time it was UW, but he needed to feel it.

“When you walk in as a mother and you do all these official visits and meet all these coaches, a lot of them say the same thing, and it’s repetitive and kind of gets old. Who is the character? Who’s telling the truth here? Who cares about him? Who’s telling me anything I want to hear just to get them in the school? The difference between every coach I met and Coach Lake and Coach Petersen was so far off the charts. There was no confusion for me.”

Word was there was a potential commit going to occur this week. I just saw that WOOF come down a few seconds ago.

We'll know this morning.

Yep. One of the names suspected was going to verbal by spring practice dates.
Huskies got their QB for the 2020 class locked up.
