April 11-14: Masters — Augusta National; Augusta, Ga.
May 16-19: PGA Championship — Bethpage State Park (Black Course); Farmingdale, N.Y.
June 13-16: U.S. Open — Pebble Beach Golf Links; Pebble Beach, Calif.
July 18-21: British Open — Royal Portrush Golf Club; Portrush, Northern Ireland

I would like to divide this into categories.

Category 1.
Players who have not won a major yet. Who will break thru?

Category 2.
Players who have won 1 major, but have not been able to "validate" by winning that elusive 2nd one.
Who gets number 2?

Category 3.
Players who have multiple majors.
Anyone of those folks get another this year?

I can see this playing out...Thomas won't be on Poa greens at any of the majors this yr (oh...scrap that)..USO is at Pebble right? Still a good pick.

Not sure what to think about Dechambeau yet, but if it can be figured out...he'll figure it out.

Good point about JT and Pebble.
Watching him putt in that final round was unusual for sure, but he still had the tourney in his pocket.
Rose is always solid. It would not surprise me if he got number 2. He has let a few get away, and I am sure that has weighed on him

Rahm and Fleetwood are great talents.
I could see Rahm winning a green jacket, and Fleetwood winning one of the others.

A bit off topic...I think moving the Players to March is going to tighten up the contending bunch up a little bit. But right now, the Masters is wide open. There will be so much pressure on the slam. IMO for Rory to win it he needs to post a score.

They talked about the cold windy weather being a factor at the Players, so the guys who hit it low will have an edge.
Bubba loves himself the punch shot. I definitely prefer it being before the Masters.

Augusta. Rory can do it. He's been flinching in the big ones, the last few years, but he might might end up in the hunt with someone who flinches worse. Never know. Might need to post that early number on Sunday like you say.

Players...yep, conditions are a lot different in March...I think overseeding will be in play again...it's a slower course in March.

Rory...agreed. there is a little added pressure at Augusta, but his big thing now is a consistent 4 rounds...seems to have that 1 rd where he's putting himself in catch up mode on Sunday.

Logic says he'll win at Augusta one day...he does too many things that says you should do well at AN...hits it long, hits it right to left, course allows for recovery off the tee more than most majors...has to be sharper with the irons, and on the greens.

Curious what you think about this.
For the Cat 1 list, I indicate which players have major scar tissue to over come.
And the father time ticking clock which could be a whole separate layer of pressure.

Cat 1.
Bryson Dechambeau Neither
Jon Rahm Neither
Xander Schauffele Neither
Rickie Fowler Scar, still young
Tony Finau Neither
Tommy Fleetwood Neither
Marc Leishman Some scar, 35 years old
Paul Casey Scar, 40 years old
Patrick Cantlay Neither
Matt Kuchar Scar, 40 years old
Gary Woodland Neither
Alex Noren No, 36 years old
Cameron Smith Neither
Hideki Matsuyama Neither
Tyrrell Hatton Neither

Cat 2 pressure is different, but I do believe a few are feeling it.
Justin Rose(if he is going to get another one, it may need to be soon)
Dustin Johnson (seeing Brooks start to separate has to be bothering him)
Justin Thomas No
Francesco Molinari Happy with life after Open Championship
Jason Day Not sure
Patrick Reed Not sure
Webb Simpson Seems happy with life.
Louis Oosthuizen Seems pretty laid back.
Sergio Garcia I don't think he will win another, and he probably knows it too.

Cat 3: The Pressure of Legends watching down on them.
Brooks Koepka Is in every golfer's head right now when it is time to tee it up at a major.
Rory Mcilroy Master's pressure is got to be off the charts for him.
Tiger Woods I can't imagine what pressure Tiger is feeling either. He knows the time is now.
Bubba Watson Seems like he can be fine with 2 Green Jackets at the end of the day.
Phil Mickelson Phil may not say he is feeling the heat, but he probably is. Pebble might be his best chance this year.
Jordan Spieth Still very young. I think he will figure it out. See me in 3-4 years if he is stuck on 3 majors

Cat 1...agree, I wouldn't rule any of them out, but for the guys with scar tissue, the task is getting tougher with age.

Cat. 2...I would say DJ and Rose are the guys that need to back it up and could feel a little extra pressure.

Cat 3...several of these guys are likely going to be in the HOF when it's all said and done. I think Rory, and Phil both feel a little extra pressure to put a cap on the slam. For Tiger...I think he'll feel big time pressure if he's in the hunt late, but going in...he probably doesn't bear that same level of expectation he did 15 yrs ago.
