I thought I would check this show out. I am now in Season 2. Anyone else watching? Thoughts?

It's a favorite of my wife. The couple of episodes I've seen were very good. But she got into it during a recent NFL season, while I watched football, and has seen them all, while I've only seen a couple of episodes out of sequence. It seems worth a binge.

I am pretty sure Orange is the new black stole the idea from this show, but this show has way better characters and stories.

That's my wife's take as well. From what I've seen of it I agree. It certainly doesn't have the comedic side that OITNB does. There's not much funny going on in Wentworth.

Apparently, it is a reboot of a hit Aussie tv show from the 70s (Prisoner: Cell Block H)

I am in S4 right now. So far S4 is a bit of a disappointment. It was intended to be the payoff for seasons 2 and 3, and so far it is falling a bit flat.

Bea is really not being portrayed as an effective Top Dog, imho. I understand that the original basically dealt with Bea’s reign as TD while this reboot was originally intended to deal with her rise to power. Well, unless more is shown in future seasons, I don’t think that will be effectively achieved.

The show is still quality, though. OitNB was CLEARLY biting off this show, but in the dramady genre instead of the suspense-drama genre that this is. This has more of an Oz feel (though not quite as gritty as Oz).

Just finished the latest season (6??).

Not sure what to make of the very end.

so are we to infer that Ferguson is alive, but living homeless? Come on. The character was cheesy enough when she was “alive”. Don’t Jason Vorhees her. And why make that reveal with Rita? The two of them never met (on screen, at least)

Anyway, one of the more solid seasons.

Just finished the most recent season (8?).

This really is a pretty solid show. For the kind of cast turnover it has and lasting 8 seasons (so far), very impressive.

Allie was clearly the worst TD yet on the show, but I think that was kinda intentional. She clearly didn’t want it and was not near tough enough to hold on to it.
