Congrats to Michael McDowell, Ty Dillon, Ryan Preece and Ross Chastain on getting their only top 10 finish of the season.

At least dip shit Lagano didn’t win.

Hamlin is a far bigger dipshit than Logano.

I never respected Chase Elliott until he ended Hamlin's season a couple years back(still not a Chase Elliott fan)

I was really hoping Erik Jones would get the win.

I was really hoping Erik Jones would get the win.

Everyone that I liked didn't finish(well, I think Austin Dillon limped around to a top 20 finish after being in the first big wreck).

At the last restart, I was pulling for one of the small teams to somehow steal one(McDowell, Preece, Ty Dillon). A Daytona 500 win would do wonders for the finances of a small team.

When Trevor Bayne won the Daytona 500, The Wood Brothers were reduced to being a part time team that ran less than half the schedule. They ran full time the next season IIRC and have ever since.

I'm hoping the Levine(or how ever you spell it, the 95 car) Family Racing team can build up to be a true contender. Dibenedetto is an underrated driver that I think could be dangerous with good equipment.

Was a shame to see Furniture Row shut down. I remember when that team was barely above start and park status, and then they built themselves up to be a championship team.

although clearly not a JGR fan, its nice to see DiBenedetto in solid equipment for once. So unbelievably underrated and heres a guy that when in less equipment, never got in anybodies way, never heard bad things about him, never drives over his head and always got the absolute most out of whatever he has/had.

I expect a sleeper top 20 type team out of them this year, especially with the new package should help even out the field just a tick more

Atlanta might be interesting. Will it still end up being the usual suspects at the front, and will the Fords struggle like the Camaro's did last year at the 1.5 mile tracks?

I stopped watching after Bubba got into it with Kurt Busch. What a joke.

This year is the 40th anniversary of the 1979 edition of this race where some things happened.

vcFkL0k.jpg

This year, it's an 18 hour prerace followed by a 40 car conga line, but hey you never know what can happen at these things.

The defending Champion of this event is Austin Dillon. He's in the race today and looking to become the first person in the 21st Century to win this race back to back. This feat hasn't been accomplished since I was in high school and Sterling Marlin in the Kodak #4 got it done in 1994 and '95.

It's 81 degrees and Sunny in Daytona Beach with no rain expected.
I was at that one and glad I was. I was not at the one yesterday and am glad I was not.

I'm sure glad I recorded it. I waited almost 2 hours before I started to view.

Still basically finished up with Live TV. What a crash fest.
