Foxnews:

BIGGEST DRAFT LOSERS

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS: Seattle added two pretty good Utah State players in this draft -- inside linebacker Bobby Wagner in the second round and running back Robert Turbin in the fourth. The rest of the draft was kind of hit-or-miss.

Taking hit-or-miss players on the third day of the draft is one thing, but Seattle gets a low grade because of its first- and third-round selections.

Bruce Irvin is considered by some to be the best pure pass rusher in this draft, but at 245 pounds, the former West Virginia defensive end projects only as a pass rush specialist at linebacker, a la Aaron Maybin. A player like that is useful, but taking him at No. 15 in the draft is probably a reach -- and that doesn't even take into account Irvin's many off-the-field red flags.

Also, Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson was a dynamic college player, but he's 5-foot-11. His size limitations made him a reach in the third round, and with 26-year-old free agent Matt Flynn expected to take over as the starting QB, Wilson was a reach the Seahawks didn't have to make.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kiper gave Seattle's draft a 'C' that year and Russell Wilson didn't even make his wrap up. Thats how low on the radar Wilson was.
I agree that Wilson wasn't rated very highly by a few sources but there were also a few sources that could see the potential. And 90% of the detractors were hung up on his size. As for Fox, meh. They though Turbin was a decent pick. I also think a lot of the negative draft talk had a little bit to do with them giving that FA contract to Flynn. People actually thought Matt Flynn was good at one point. Goes to show how sometimes the experts are total fools too. I'm just glad Seattle saw something in RW and didn't let the stupidity of height cloud their judgement.I thought this analysis from Bleacher Report was an honest assessment of Wilson at the time.

So you had to go all the way to Fox News? Also, I don't see a single mention of him being a "poor man's Doug Flutie".
Literally the first link that came up when I did '2012 NFL draft winners and losers'

That Seattle draft is pretty well known for being panned and then turning out to be quite the opposite. There wasn't a ton of commentary on Russell Wilson because it was a strong QB class. Andrew Luck is maybe the highest rated prospect/positional value combination since I've been following the draft. RG3 was also really hyped but a little polarizing like most QB prospects. Tannehill was the 2nd tier.

Wilson was like that years Jarrett Stidham. Basically instantly dismissed even though some saw the potential.

Wilson also changed football. Russell Wilson would go #1 overall in this year's draft because people scout differently now.

I'll agree there wasn't much commentary on him due to the rest of the QBs in that class, you're right. I still never saw him compared to a "poor man's Doug Flutie". That comparison was just dumb. I also never saw anyone criticize his arm strength. The only thing I saw was his height and that's it. He would definitely be a top pick this year, you're right.

Thats why Murray's agent is saying that he weighs 205.

All of this stuff is a little moot. Everyone was worried about Rg3 being too think and he bulked up to make it in the NFL and then basically just lasted one season because of decisions from the neck up. It doesn't matter what you weigh when you make bad decisions.

I have Murray as either QB1 or QB4 depending on his actual measurements. I'm worried about his weight and worried about his hand size. To a lesser degree, his height might be a factor, too.

Lol @Murray being 205

Browns took Weeden.

Browns took Johnny Foozball.

Vikings took Ponder.

Broncos took Tebow.

All worse at the moment of selection imo.

Lions took Fat Mike Williams. After being out of football for a year. No way Detroit gives up their crown without a fight. They may trade up for Murray.

Nothing is worse than the browns draft from 99-03

Only a 5 year stretch?

I went back and looked at those years specifically and they were really bad. Yea the obvious were couch and brown but that wasn't the worst of it. It's not selecting offensive lineman those first few years. Drafting a wr in the second round four years in a row. And missing on pretty much every single pick in the Davis era. (He may be the worst multi year drafter in NFL history.)

I actually think compared to the others Couch and Brown were among the better picks. HArd to blame them for guys who get hurt.

Warren probably the worst. Yes, Davis was god awful, which is a shame as he was an excellent coach, but his drafting killed the team.

Mangini was awful, as well. Going by memory but pretty sure he traded down with the Jets from 5 to 17 so the Jets could get their QB (Sanchez). All we got for allowing the Jets to move up 12 spots for their QB was the #17 a 2nd and a bunch of Jet castoffs (maybe other late round picks). Criminal not to move down that far and not get an additional future first. But he wanted those castoffs.

I think he used the extra 2 on Veikune
