Don't be ridiculous..... Geno Atkins does not fit in a 3-4 at all. You just paid him big money. Carlos Dunlap doesn't fit in a 3-4 at all and you just paid him big money. Hubbard and Lawson would have to be OLBs in a 3-4 and neither has any experience with it. And we don't have a nose tackle.

Our personnel doesn't fit 3-4....They weren't drafted for that scheme and it doesn't make much sense. I think Geno and Dunlap can anchor the line for another 3-4 years and I think Lawson and Hubbard need to play their natural positions.
DC as DC would have been a major error - this defense is nowhere near set up to run a 3-4 or any variation of.

Would not do a 3-4 in our division with playing pittsburgh twice, then the ravens, and browns putting value on OL to protect their new QB.

Go 4-3, stop the run, keep the defense off the field as much as possible.

Sources: UF's Grantham in lead for Bengals DC

From what I read of this guy, he’s basically the Teryl Austin of college coordinators. Notoriously bad 3rd down defenses. Complicated ass scheme dependent on random blitzes.

He’ll fit right in.

Well sign his ass up then!!

I get mixed messages about him.... He's taken on some very difficult challenges. DC with the Browns. DC with Missy State.... His numbers aren't great, but he's been in demand. Also interesting that Florida overpaid to get him so he was clearly valued by Dan Mullen.

I have to say though.... If we are going to suck on defense, it would be nice to suck while we are rushing more than 4 guys. Sounds like Grantham likes to blitz - That will be a refreshing change.

Grantham turned us down.... Hard to know if he was just doing the interview as a way to increase his salary at Florida. He has no connection to Taylor and his job security is much better in Gainesville than it is in the NFL. Regardless, the Bengals are striking out all over the place and will probably have to go with someone without much experience.

We should ask to interview Kris Richard of the Cowboys. I think he is a star in the making like Taylor. Creative, young, ready to set the world on fire, and well respected by other coaches and players.

Dallas won’t let him walk.

Be kind of crappy to force a coach to stay when being offered a promotion and fast tracked to a head coaching job.

We've done it..... We held Vance Joseph here as a DBs coach when other teams wanted to interview him as a coordinator. It's becoming more and more common.

We tried to interview Aaron Glenn of the Saints. They blocked it. It’s common practice now outside of HC interviews.
