So Wilson is in his last year on his contract, do you think he resigns a new deal or tries the FA waters?

If he's smart, he goes to the highest bidder but with the best situation.

He isn't going anywhere. He will be a Seahawk for life. The teams cap situation isn't bad and they will figure out something. That's my take on it.

Seattle would be absolutely retarded to let him walk.

They'll re-sign him. He's a great leader, is not scrambling as much these days (good thing), has always scrambled safe, probably sported one of the worst offensive receiving groups in the NFL last season since Baldwin was playing injured most of the season and David Moore who looked promising fell off the Earth after a few games.... and they have very little threat at tight end.

The offensive line DID improve I'll give them that. It was not only evident on the TV screen but PFF ranked them top 20 in pass block efficiency thanks to DJ Fluker and a full offseason of Duane Brown. I watched Wilson standing around looking down field half the time with what seemed like nothing to fuckin' throw to. Either an issue with the wideouts or the new OC.

Even playaction was struggling at times with Seattle rushing the ball 2nd most in the league (topped only by Balti because of Lamar "I'm a bust" Jackson).

Wilson is a top 5 QB. Those guys get signed. And Wilson ran 67 times this year... Brees/Luck/Rodgers, etc. were around 40-50, so Wilson's 'scrambling' isn't even a concern (Brady was < 30 but in a diff. league). Everyone was pegging Seattle as some 4-12 or 5-11 team, and it was LARGELY because of Wilson they went to the playoffs.

Point being, if Seattle lets him walk it'd be the worst franchise move of all time and would blow the Hutchinson debacle out of the water. Wilson and Wagner are the two best players on that team and HUGE impact players at their position. Letting either walk would be an absolute disaster.

You can't let a guy this good walk unless his demands are over the top. He doesn't show signs of slowing down. Not having a state income tax in Washington should also help.

You would think but :

Both franchises do/did business in the state, this clearly raise the questions of the way professional sports plays out in Seattle Washington!

Wilson has gone Hollywood and the Chargers have an aging QB who will need to be replaced sooner rather than later. Rivers may be coming off one of the best seasons of his career, but he will also be 39 years old next season. And after Goff's superbowl performance, the Rams may not be as sold on Goff as they might have been three months ago. In other words, there could potentially be a couple of QB openings in LA in the next 12-24 months. And, as I said, Wilson has gone Hollywood with a Hollywood wife. So, IMO, him re-signing with Seattle is far from a slam dunk.

Here's a question. When was the last time a top tier QB outright walked in FA? Peyton Manning is really the only one and the Colts had just drafted Luck because Peyton didn't play an entire season and nobody knew if he would even play again.
I guess my point is it doesn't really happen unless a team has a bunch of morons guiding the ship. I think the Seahawks have some pretty smart football guys steering the ship.

He will be resigned, Ill be suprised if something isnt done by the preseason. There was a similar runaround when this was the situation 4 years ago and he signed the day before training camp.
Hawks have something like 15 or so free agents to deal with first and then maybe you will hear more on this

If they don't get him extended, there will be some serious problems for the entire front office, including Carroll. They owe Russ for carrying that team, (that is frankly just ok overall in terms of talent) to the playoffs and the extensions that they got.

If they want to get back to where they were in terms of being an NFC powerhouse, they need Wilson under center to do it.

They didn't even let him pass last year. Why would they pay him?

And why would he stay?

Any other team I would say an extension is a slam dunk and while I still would be shocked if Seattle didn't extend Wilson if there was a team that wouldn't it would be Seattle.

Carroll simply doesn't place as high of importance in the QB position as most teams and coaches do. He puts more importance on defense and running the ball than he does at QB so I don't think he really wants to pay a guy more than Aaron Rodgers to hand the ball off and have the lowest passing attempts in the league outside of QBs that got hurt.

Ultimately I see him reluctantly paying Wilson but I don't see the talks being smooth as if I'm Wilson I'm not budging on Rodgers contract plus a little more in my demands. Plenty of teams would pay it and I'd take the Cousin's approach if I had too.

And he'll never hit FA either. If Seattle sees the situation going south they'd trade him away for a king's ransom. I mean look at what the Bears traded for Mack and if a non QB can get that trade package imagine what a top tier QB would command.

You would think QBs would learn from Tom Brady, he doesn’t have a huge contract and the team can afford a O-line to protect him. So many of these teams that QBs have huge contracts suck because they can’t afford key players

Seattle keeps Wilson without a doubt.

Granted Brady does take less but that doesn't pay his Oline they rank 24th in cost.
Scar and scouting is what makes the difference with NE. Don't forget their 1st round pick Issah Wynn T/G missed the entire season so I don't see a let up anytime soon unless Scar leaves again.
