John Wall next season when he's at home recovering instead of playing for the Wizards.

At this point I think Lakers fans will be happy either way.

They'll either be happy they officially landed AD or they'll be happy they didn't give up literally everything for AD.

Well, imo the pelicans just don't want to trade with us(before the deadline atleast). Just spitballing here...but once the offseason hits, this is is gonna come down to 2 things.
1.) If Danny Ainge wants to actually give up everything

2.) What Kyrie does.

If I'm the knicks, or Lakers, I show up to his door the first day of FA to try to pitch him on teaming with KD...or in our case, with AD/Lebron, because if Kyrie comes to LA(not likely), I don't see Boston trading for AD

ehh....i dont know how you could be happy after being bad for 5 years- and at the end of the day end up with Kuzma, Ball, Ingram and Hart.

the salary cap mistakes, the trade mistakes, the free agency mistakes--- if the Lakers made just a few incremental better choices they could be lined up to have a monster 4 year stretch.

instead- say they trade away every asset they have practically for davis- they are left with little cap room, basically no picks, a 35 year old lebron next year, and AD-

AD is obviously amazing, and LeBron is still great, but for a Lakers hater such as myself, after seeing that team be down for 5 years and all the high picks they got and all the time they hd to clear cap space etc...its pretty crazy to see them in the spot they are in right now.

I actually think at this point Lowry is more valuable to the Raptors than Conley. Gasol is definitely an upgrade over JV tho, but at what cost?

i would also add where the Knicks land in the lotto- and if its a reasonable thing to think that KD or Irving may go there.

If KD or Irving go there and the Knicks get a top 2 pick to include in a Davis deal- things get very interesting for them.

The Knicks very easily could sign KD and say Kemba, and then put together a trade for davis for like theier lotto pick, future firsts, Knox, DSJ, and cap flotsam.

i have to say- if i am the Pelicans I would much rather have the #2 pick, Knox, DSJ, and an extra first rounder in the future, than i would Ingram, Ball, kuzma, and 2 first rounders that are likely to be bad.

just me being honest.

The lakers are definitly in the discussion for Davis and have put a decent offer out there--- but things can come otgether where the Knicks or Celtics, if they wanted to, could trump that offer.

The Lakers have withdrawn from the AD trade.

I agree. You're looking for the most top tier talent. I think Ingram though is undervalued and eventually could be a really good player. His on/off splits with Lebron indicate he thrives when Lebron's not out there (which is understandable). He could be another D'Lo in the making in that he just needs a new environment.

But if I'm the Pelicans I opt for a shot a superstar talent. That's ultimately what you want.

What in the actual Fuck tho?

Lowry has not hid his contempt for Masai.

He comes off the books after next Season.

JV already lost his starting job.

Very weird to do it NOW though.

Ingram is definitely an interesting piece---- I agree--- but there is a lot of uncertainty there.

I mean- he is an RFA next year--- what if a team that strikes out on a free agent goes and offers Ingram an offer sheet of 4 years 60M---- or shit even more.

Having cost certainty on Ingram for only 1 year is an issue.

Not sure how much that helps Memphis, who is looking for youth and picks.
Lowry still has another year left after this one.

More so....

Weird ass timing unless they see Lowry as a impediment to keeping Kawhi.

It basically comes down to who do you believe has the makings of becoming a franchise player.

Tatum is the only one.

Kuz, Brown and Ingram could develop into occasional All Stars.

Ball projects to be solid.

Tatum is the only possible Star.

Even though the Lakers are willing to give up MORE assets...

Quality > Quantity

4 years 60M and TBH I'm matching in a heartbeat. Given his age and growth, I'd do that all day and be really happy about it. When you get to 4 years 80, that's when you start to think harder about it.

I mean that's the type of deals that Aaron Gordon and Zach Lavine got in the off-season. I think Ingram has a higher ceiling with already similar production.

The rest of the deal is not really interesting to me. Hart is a nice player, but he's 8th man on a winning roster. Lonzo, I think he's played great before his injury but just not a fan of his game. Kuzma is going to be a Rudy Gay type player in his career. Best role is a super-sub likely. Zubac, has shown flashes, but he's a real unknown. Also like you said the 1st round picks would likely be late anyways, so not a ton of value there.

I don't know, everyone keeps saying the Pels can't draw free agents, that quantity may become very important.
