July is an excellent month.
Real talk and an unpopular opinion around here but it’s one day of watching football vs spending a day with your family. I got married in October but I made sure that it was not a big game for Michigan or Michigan State. Honestly what is the likelyhood that you are going to have a lifelong memory from watching football vs going to a wedding with family.
Meh. Weddings are a waste of time IMO. so, I only go to family weddings if geographically convenient. That being said, not going to a family wedding because it is in football season is a life mistake.
I have two wonderful nieces who are football fans themselves, and they both decided to get married during football season. I went to both weddings and had a nice time. Who cares if you miss a game or too.
Family is more important than Football.
Preaching to the choir, man.....Your sister’s reasoning is one of the lamest reasons I’ve ever heard.
I’m confused about your soon-to-be daughter-in-law’s reasoning? Don’t want it to be about football? Have it in January, February, March, April, May, June, July, or even August.
Sons fiance said she doesn't want it to be about football.
Step sister got married the Sunday of Labor Day weekend and my best friend from high school got married 4th of July weekend.Another stupid wedding date
When I say anything about it I hear "There will be other games, you're being selfish."
Im 55 years old. The number of game days I have left are limited. Assuming a 14 game season, there are 38 other Saturdays you can get married on, in one year alone. These chicks don't seem to understand.
Fuck fuck fuckity fucking fuck.
I might get married on12/31 at 11:59pm. But I don't want it to be about New Years.
My fiancee was the matron of honor in a NYE wedding two years ago and it was great. I hate having to figure out plans for it, so they were made for me. I got free food and free booze and didn't have to do anything but put on a suit.Another stupid wedding date
I think the point is you can have both. There are 9 other months of the year to get married and create those lifelong memories. I had a wedding this last September and it wasn't a big deal because it was when we played with Tulane, but I'd be lying if I said I haven't skipped a wedding before because of football. In fact, it was for OSU-MSU back in 2014, and I don't regret it at all.Real talk and an unpopular opinion around here but it’s one day of watching football vs spending a day with your family. You can’t expect people to plan their entire lives around sports. Otherwise there would only be weddings two days a year because you have college football, college basketball, NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, MLS, PGA, NASCAR, etc. Also people get shit for having weddings on holidays. Getting married in the summer you run the risk of it being a sweltering day and no one wants to be a sweaty mess, winter you run the risk of a snow storm or people not being able to fly in because of ice, like today. I’m just saying try to be mindful and take a look at the schedule. If Ohio State is playing Michigan or Oklahoma, pick a different week. If it’s Rutgers or Oregon State, have at it.I think the point is you can have both. There are 9 other months of the year to get married and create those lifelong memories. So my youngest son recently became engaged to a beautiful young lady who thinks I'm just adorable. I am very happy for them.
Found out the other day that she wants the wedding on September 7th. A Saturday during football season.
Terrible, right? Hang on, it gets worse.
Today I get a message from my sister asking if I would officiate her wedding. Of course, I'm honored. I say as much.
GREAT! She's so thankful. I ask what the date will be.
September 21.
FML
I've always been adamant about missing a wedding scheduled during a game day. I've skipped two so far. I made an exception this season when my nephew schedule his on a bye week, but a make up game was scheduled after all the arrangements were made.
FML.....
Fuck fuck fuckity fucking fuck.
