Fuck you Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Sandy Koufax, Walter Johnson, Jackie Robinson, Mickey Mantle, Willie May, Hank Aaron, Rickey Henderson, and others...

You dont deserve the same honor as a guy with a single season career high WAR of 4.3

He is the real deal first guy to legitimately earn that 100%.

makes sense to me.
Take that up with the halfwits from the 60s onward who wouldn't vote for the Aarons, Seavers, Mayses, etc. because they thought 100% makes some sort of difference.

If anything, this is a big "fuck you" to those pompous windbags.

I understand he is head and shoulders better than Frank Thomas, but other than that, what does he got?
:stephena:

What’s he missing? Is the better question.

He is not as undeserving as Baines, but he is the most over-rated player ever. Or at least damn near the most overrated...

What I got from this post is you pretty much saying, "I don't know a lot about baseball"...

The all time trifecta of Harold Baines, Mike Mussina, and Edgar Martinez is complete.

What with all the nonstop WS winning, stat domination, defensive prowess, lasting impact on the game, and superstar endorsement power

FINALLY a reason to make the trip to Cooperstown!!!

You can insult me all you want, it doesn't change the truth.
The truth is that dumb reasoning made 100% of the vote "sacred". It should have died before Jackie Robinson. But saying that "because X guy didn't get it, Y guy shouldn't get it" is dumb.

They aren't ordered in the HOF by percentage of the vote.

Very very glad to see Mariano get a unanimous bid. Very very deserving. Surprised to see Mussina in as a first ballot. Congrats to all! All well deserved.

So, for the record, you are claiming that Edgar’s BAT is so far superior to Thomas’ BAT that Thomas “doesn’t sniff Edgar’s jock”.

I just want you record with that opinion...

That is correct. Frank Thomas wasn’t as good of a hitter as Edgar was.

One doesn't/shouldn't have anything to do with the other, considering the voters are different. They got rid of many of the older voters who don't cover baseball anymore, and those are often the ones who've done things like not voting for a first-ballot guy.

Had it been the voter base from 5 years ago, Mo likely isn't getting 100%. But every year the voting base is getting younger/more modern with the new criteria in place to be an eligible voter.

Yankees will have back to back unanimous HOFers after next year. DJ is on the ballot next year. IDK how ANYONE leaves him off their ballot.

That is correct. Frank Thomas wasn’t as good of a hitter as Edgar was.

If you look at Thomas' numbers through roughly the same amount of plate appearances as Edgar had:

Thomas - .307 AVG, 161 OPS+, 448 HR, 1465 RBI, 1327 R
Martinez- .312 AVG, 147 OPS+, 309 HR, 1261 RBI, 1219 R

Learn to read, than.

Not saying he wasn’t a good player. But no way in hell was he a HOFer. And for him to get the amount of helium he has received is the Webster’s entry for overrated.
