After the beating Clemson gave my beloved Tide. I looked deep into my soul and realized. Clemson’s coaching staff and program are tops in the nation.

If not for Watson getting injured, they probably finish in the top 10 the last 6 years, with 6 straight years of BCS/NY6/CFP games. They've had it rolling every year since 2012.

OP probably is correct though in regards to having the best coaching staff.

What does long term have to do with this year? This past season, Clemson took the number 1 slot from Bama. Alabama’s coaching was abysmal when it counted.

No doubt Clemson out coached Alabama in that game, I said so even during the game.

But they aren't the top program in the nation.

I'm not trying to sell Clemson short, they are one of the best programs going right now. I think the #neverdabo Alabama fans are DUMB. Their results speak for themselves, but I ain't ready to crown em just yet as being #1 program etc.

All depends on the timeframe you want to use. Go back 5 years, it's essentially a toss up with Bama, no one else is close. Go back a decade, that's where Alabama separates. Clemson is still probably #2 in that time frame. Looking ahead, it's probably gonna be Clemson/Bama V next season. They are in position to overtake Bama next year if they go back to back, but it's certainly a toss up as to who wins it next year between them.

Depends on the time period you are talking about.

Past 10+ years — It is Bama and a huge drop to everyone else.

Past 5 years — It is Clemson and Bama as 1a and 1b.

This year — Obviously it is Clemson.

They hold the crown now, but have a little ways to go to get to Bama’s length of supremacy.
