It bothers me when famous people think they should tell you how to think.

So just for clarification you think that famous people should not use their platform to push any sort of agenda, political or otherwise? Like you don't believe they're knowledgeable about any part of politics solely because it's not their area of expertise. They should have no business telling anyone what to do, or using any sort of social media to promote political consciousness at any level and should stick to what they do.

Yes. Politics especially. They have no business telling people how to think. The narcissism of such behavior astonishes me. They think "Because I can act or because I can sing you should listen to me". Its outrageous; and what's worse people listen to them. Why would you listen to someone just because they can shoot a basketball?

And yet there was lots of ball movement and moving without the ball, hence the 38 assists. Ever wonder why so many shots went in? Maybe due to great passes getting guys open looks, guys moving without the ball catching and shooting coming around picks?

Again, why do you enjoy beclowning yourself so? That was their best offensive game of the year, but you do you.
13 or so players with assists too, against a top performing team. That's the team that can steamroll thru the playoffs. The new guy suits up soon right?

Friday I believe. Be interesting to see if he can hang in a fast paced game. Not worried about his offense but he might be a real liability on D when teams go small

But he's a politician. That's what they do. Its their job to invoke laws and policies. But its probably the reason politicians are ranked as one of the three least respected professions in the country along with news people and lawyers.

I kinda got the sense that something changed in this team during the Knicks game. It certainly looks like it. Looks like they flipped the switch. The season has started for them. Finally.

Dubs-Pelicans.....Well a win is a win I guess and it was an entertaining game to watch but I think Steve Kerr described it best as a pick up game and he was the youth activities director deciding who'd be shirts and who'd be skins instead of a coach in an NBA game.
Not what I like to see, just throwing up 3s and hoping to out score the other team. It worked though just not a sustainable strategy in the playoffs. Can't be giving up 140 points.
Cousins back tomorrow; this should be interesting.

I disagree to a point. Expressing their point of view isn't telling anyone how to think. I think the vast majority of us "regular folk" would use the platform similarly if we had it.

Where it becomes a problem, is when they use that platform to politicize something that shouldn't be politicized. That, imo, is the problem with what she did. There was no need to use that to take a shot at Trump. Hosting the National Champions at the White House isn't a political event and shouldn't be treated as such.

The other problem, imo, isn't with the person using the platform, it's with the bold in your statement...people listening to them because they are famous. Unfortunately, there is a percentage of people who will go along with something just because it's what someone famous thinks.

But you also have to remember, just because someone agrees with them, doesn't mean they are only listening or agreeing because they are famous. They may genuinely agree based on their own beliefs/principles but lack the platform to express it to a lot of people.

I'm not talking about NOW that he is President. I'm talking before he became President and was just a celebrity spouting off on his twitter rants about the government. So we're just going to gloss over the fact that he won his presidency based off his "famousness"? I mean it wasn't some random billionaire who won. He wasn't a politician. He's still currently not well versed in politics, but relies on his advisers.

Again, not trying to make this about Trump, just trying to point out where you draw the line between people being able to voice their opinion. Your want of censoring anyone with a larger than average platform is concerning to me as an individual. People, whether it's the blue collar guy working 16 hour days to feed his family or it's a multi-millionaire athlete, both are American Citizens. They have a right to have an opinion and voice it when they want. Its up to YOU whether or not you want to listen.

But he got himself there into that position, Mrs Curry didn't. You don't hear his wife pontificating about everything on her mind like Curry's does. She knows she didn't earn it and that people don't want to hear her opinions; something Mrs Curry has not yet learned.

You are not ''people". Many do indeed want to hear her opinion, and even Melania's. Many like you don't. So what?

Again, your devaluation of Mrs. Curry's accomplishments are astonishing. But I guess we can let this conversation die. We're not going to agree clearly, so moving on.

Again, she's no different than the plumber down the street; she just happened to marry a great basketball player. She seems to believe that this gives her license to pontificate on any number of subjects and I find it astonishingly narcissistic

Then they are fools.
Again so what? It's news to you that there are fools out there? Point being your own preferences are not generalizable.

And just like the plumber down the street, she's no less entitled to voicing her opinion. You don't like it, don't listen. I don't agree with half the shit Curt Schilling has said, but you don't see me on here bitching about him. Because even if I think he's a colossal douche, he's entitled to his douchey takes. You seem to be splitting hairs when it comes to when someone can and cannot have an opinion or voice it.

Actually never shutting up about your own opinion of what other people should do or think is much more narcissistic.
