Nah, he sees an opening for a #1 WR with an ascending offense. Targets targets targets and cap space.

I thought they were the ascending offense this year? Oh yeah, Jimmy G got hurt, looked pretty average until he got hurt and the genius Shanahan couldn't make it work.

Agree with that. WR's all over the league are divas who think the game is all about them. It's been that way for a very long time. moss, T.O., Ocho Cinco, the list is a mile long. Massive talents with equally massive egos. A very few exceptions stand out from time to time like Fitzgerald but those are rare.
Top 5 in receiving yards this year:
1. Julio Jones - not a diva
2. DeAndre Hopkins - not a diva
3. Mike Evans - don't think he's a diva
4. Tyreek Hill - haven't seen diva behavior from him
5. JuJu Shuster Smith - great guy

I think you get the most diva-type players at the WR position, but it is still a rare occurrence even when looking at the top guys.

11. Antionio Brown
18. OBJ
25. Deshaun Jackson
000. Dez Bryant

Jimmy got hurt, their designated starting RB was lost for the season before it started, wr injuries throughout the season, cut their starting MLB for off the field crap, etc.

I know hating the Niners comes with the territory, but the Niners are improving (even if they stepped back a little bit this year with the injuries). Kittles alone is a monster.

I don't think there is a Houdini that could make an All Pro out of Beathard. Even starting a third string QB who never played a snap before this year and was in the unemployment line part of the time, the team was 15th in passing yards. The team was also 13th in rushing despite being down to 4th string at running back at times. The running game has been awful since 2015. When you take out Kap's numbers it looks worse. So I would say we are ascending even if we were starting at the bottom which is pretty much where we were before Shanahan took over.

I really don't want AB on the 49ers. This team needs so much more help on defense. I would rather focus there than through a kings ransom at a 30 something WR

He can hope all he wants, since he is being a bitch to the Steelers they can fo what is best for the team, not giving one fuck what he wants. He probably wants to go to San Fran to put the blame on a bad team, if things go bad for him.
He desperately wants a ring. He doesn't want to be on a bad team. He works hard as hell, and the lazy attitude that permeates the Steelers Org these days really gets to him.

Great conversation between Peter King and Aditi Kinkwabhala that goes into depth on this that starts about 20 minutes in.

That said, A.B. is still a monumental ego and has serious maturity and maybe even mental health issues.

I'd be fine with AB as long as they don't give up too much for him.

WR is a need for the 9ers but an elite #1 WR is more of a luxury than a necessity to win and I wouldn't want to see them invest too much draft capital into a guy turning 31 that has the potential to be a locker room problem.

I do see him as a diva but I think that aspect is getting a bit blown out of proportion. His problem is with Ben because Ben is a bad leader and that beef extends to Tomlin because Tomlin doesn't put people in check. The Steelers locker room in general is just terrible.

In a new locker room with better leadership I do feel that while you would have some diva issues crop up it's nothing that couldn't live with as a team.

I'll wait to hear AB actually talk, so far, he hasn't taken charge of his own narrative. Either people are trying to speak for him out of turn, or he's too scared to do it himself.

The situation is still really fluid, and if I had to bet, he's gone. And if he IS gone, the Steelers are in the drivers seat for deciding where he goes, not Jerry Rice. And it better be a damn kings ransom for one of the best players in the league.

Davenport, Mack and Cooper all went for 1st round picks, (Two for Mack) and AB is better than any of them.
I can't see more than a mid to late round first for AB. And saying he is better than Mack??? Not a chance.

He's in a great OFC with tons of targets.

If he actually does want to be in SF...imo it would be with a young QB that's not going to be too critical of his WR1 in his weekly radio show....lol

I agree with your point of the beef with Ben extending to Tomlin. Most HCs are going to side with their QB, but in this case there is no one to keep the QB in check, but the QB...and that reflects badly on Tomlin.

That wouldn't hurt...
