2019 New York Yankees Season Thread

The Official 2019 season thread!!!


Looking at some transactions, how do you guys feel about our pitching rotation now? I feel like we are getting into the same routine of trying to buy a championship instead of growing through the farm system. I feel like we had something going in 2017 when the best guys on our team weren't purchased, ya know? Aaron Judge, Gary Sanchez. All came through the farm system. But now we are trying to get big free agents, which may have worked 10-15 years ago but doesn't seem to be the path to success in today's MLB.

Troy Tulowitski was a great deal financially, I believe. He missed more than half the season last year but could still be a decent bat off the bench or in replacement of someone injured. I don't like that we gave up a great prospect in Justus Sheffield for James Paxton. He's gonna be 30 this year but last year was his best year. Hopefully he keeps improving. But I believe Justus Sheffield would've been a better option for us.

Not too confident today. 18 strikeouts, not good. Two and four. Not so hot.

These early injuries are getting frustrating. 4 guys in either the IL or 10-day DL in the first week? Ugh.

10 games left, we will likely clinch the division in the next game or two. Not hopeful for the playoffs due to all the injuries we have. But, I do believe we can at least make it to the AL Championship game. We can definitely beat the Twins, but the Astros worry me, as they should.

Looks like we will be the 2 seed in the AL so we will take on the Twins in the first round of the playoffs. The way that the Rays are playing, I'm pretty happy to not have to play them in the first round if they make it through the WC game.
