It was kind of Fromm's team at the end of LY so Fields knew that before he signed.

If Fromm has a chance to be a 1st or 2nd rd NFL pick, he would be foolish to stay at UGA. I do think Field's has a younger sister that either just enrolled at UGA or will be incoming to play softball so I don't think Justin would leave as soon as she arrives so I think he will be there this upcoming season.

If so and Fromm decides to stay, I think Fields is kind if in a tough spot because he'd have to sit out a year...may as well stick it out at UGA and play his Sr. season and hope for the best as far as the next level.
OSU just had a basketball player transfer to Wisconsin even though his younger brother is about to sign to play football with us. You have to do what's best for you.

I don't think Fields will have to sit out. My guess is he has it on good authority that the NCAA will grant his waiver. Otherwise he's really fucking himself over by letting this stuff get out this early.

Yeah, agreed on doing you.

I'm not the big CFB fan, but it's has been a big topic down here and reportedly the Fields fam is pretty close...those close to the fam think if Fields leaves it will be 2020.

That might not be what happens, Just passing along what I've been hearing locally...not something I know much about.

100% true. But look at the results Mayfield and Murray had by sitting and learning a year. If nothing else just growing up a little. Probably just my opinion but I doubt either one would have had the level of success they had without it. It did 'em both some good. Again, JMO.

Oh I agree, I think it did both of them a world of good, no doubt.

I've never really seen the kid play as a starter, but I've been told he has Deshaun Watson type skills...if true, he will get a shot to play on SUN, but obviously you have to wonder about draft position if he stays at UGA and only starts 1 season.

I don't know. I feel like I was wrong about Fields. Last year, every poll had either Justin Fields or Trevor Lawrence as the top quarterback/player in the country. It's pretty crazy, since the two lived so close together in Georgia. Trevor won more games and had better stats, but played in division AAAA vs. division AAAAAA. And I thought both were fantastic, but told all of my UGA friends (and people on here) that I felt the two chose wrong. Lawrence made more sense in their system and Fields in ours. I really wanted Clemson to get Fields.

But I watched him this year and wonder if the transition to this level was too much for him. He reminded me a lot of Kelly Bryant, rather than a Deshaun Watson. He seems to have a strong arm (not as much as Lawrence, but that guy throws harder than most NFL QBs). I question his accuracy deep. He also was really bad at reading coverages (though it could just be that he has no experience at that), and he tucks and runs way too much. I think if someone were to shut down his running option, and make him beat them with his arm, he just can't do that right now. Still, judging by his high school career, I still think he could be a really good QB. But he's very much a work in progress.

And normally I'm all about a kid doing his thing but I didn't care at all for how Micah handled that

He was only a three star to begin with

I wasn't a fan of that either. At least go out of the conference.

Well shit this Fields to Oklahoma thing is gaining a lot of traction. With the #1 qb Spencer Rattler set to sign tomorrow I don't know if this is a good thing. But who wouldn't want to play for Lincoln Riley? Riley walking into a room with a Heisman in each hand after 2 years on the job is hard to ignore. No idea who would be the better option between Rattler and Fields.

Riley's good with QBs but don't you think he needs a little time with them? Mayfield and Murray both matured greatly from that time with Riley before they started.

Another good example was that Cornelius kid from Oklahoma State this year. He bided his time for 5 years! He might have been ruined had he been thrown to the wolves early.

But, I guess I'm just old fashioned and don't understand the "I want to play now or I'm leaving" mentality.

Sounds like the year off could help him especially in a place like Ohio State, learning the new offense.

On the other side of the transfer discussion,I'm hearing we're a strong candidate for Aubrey Solomon. Any B1G peeps know how good he is?

Not that I was ever upset about this, I fully expected it(which is why I made this thread the day before this all went down) and understand it, but the local sports jocks made a pretty good point today. After this recruiting class, UGA is gonna be sitting at nearly 80% of the roster being blue chip recruits, and when you have that much talent on the roster, you're gonna have 4 and 5 stars leaving because they don't want to sit. I'm perfectly fine with the tradeoff.

We never really had many transfers leave under Richt, but at the same time, most years our roster was sitting at 45-50% blue chip recruits.

Only thing that really sucks about this is we're either gonna have a true freshman that isn't a 5 star or a walkon being the backup QB next season. John Rhys Plumlee committed when both Fromm and Fields was here, and he's a low end 4 star recruit, but sitting for 2 years under Fromm and being developed by the coaching staff might make this whole thing a blessing in disguise, you never can tell. Seen too many 3 stars turn into All Americans and too many 5 stars amount to nothing to stress too much about it.

I guess it is official now. Now it's just where he ends up.

Also, this likely takes us out of running for Haselwood, but if Fields goes to Oklahoma, he might bring Haselwood with him. Haselwood wants to play with Fields, and him not starting this year was a reason he decommitted from UGA.

Mizzou picked up Clemson QB Kelly Bryant as a transfer. Mizzou picked up TCU QB Shawn Robinson as a transfer.

I see you, Fields.
