I can trace some of my ancestry to Winterkasten, and Hoff is one of the most nearby clubs.

Hannover 96 is the closest to my mom's hometown of Celle. They are struggling this year. Could be relegated if they don't get going.

That would suck, especially after Hamburg went down after last season, but looks like they'll bounce back, they're sitting top of Bundesliga2 right now.

Looks like Hamburg will be back up next year. Too big a team to be there in Bundesliga2. Really all I am hoping for now is Bayern making top 4. Happy to see Gladbach and Frankfurt stumble last weekend. It is such a fine line this season for Bayern. 9 points behind Dortmund, but they blow the lead against Freiburg and Dusseldorf in injury time and blow the lead against Dortmund after leading in 2nd half. 10 point swing.

P.S. Love the Sancho kid for Dortmund. He put Pulisic on the bench. Pulisic needs to leave to get more playing time. Big teams are coming for Sancho soon.

Bayern really only has themselves to blame. I blame management first for continuing to go with an aging roster. Players second, then Kovac. Injuries have hurt their depth too. Lost Coman and Tolisso in the first games, now James, Thiago just came back from a long injury. Things will be better with Coman back. Their central defense is a disaster this year. Blowing the Dusseldorf game playing the offside trap game, same with Dortmund letting a breakaway win the game. Neuer too has been way off this year too. I think the Bundesliga is lost already, but we'll see what they do in transfer window for business part of the season.

I'll never count Bayern out, especially this early. That's what I'm nervous about, I can't shake the feeling Bayern will pull some magic out of their ass in the transfer window and make a run in the spring and that BVB might have just enough stumbles to blow it.

Sancho's been pretty awesome. I was a BVB fan before Pulisic ever got there but was thrilled to see him arrive. He's even from my old homeland of Central PA. If he goes I will be tremendously sad but yeah... he needs to be somewhere he will play

In years past, I'd say you're right, but the way Uli and Karl have been lately, not sure a whole lot of big name players would want to go there.

Looks we are not the only ones seeing the buffoonery of Uli and Karl:

Hoeness 'shocked' by Bayern AGM criticism

Uli Hoeness ego is off the charts and he refuses to take accountability for all the problems.

Unfortunately this seems like the year Bayern falls back a bit. The aging roster and lack of depth is telling. Wish Leverkusen would be the team to take the step up. (Bayern fan 1st and like Leverkusen as well). Leverkusen's roster seems to be ok, but cannot get the results.

I really thought Leverkusen would finish 2nd this year. I liked their roster. Really underachieving and got off to a bad start.

Bayern had some injury problems that hurt their depth early in the season which forced them to really rely on Robery too much. Tolisso out for the year and Coman injured in the first game. Killed their depth . Now that Coman, Thiago, are back things look a lot better. Thiago is maybe their most important player. James still out until January. Even Gnabry has picked it up. Much better and pacier with Coman/Gnaby starting on the wings instead of Robery who are both exiting after this season which means going forward they should come off the bench unless games bunched together like this week.

Just like today.....Coman/Gnabry start and Ribery comes off the bench for the winning goal late. That is how you use Ribery for biggest benefit.

Yuuuge must-win game here for BVB vs Gladbach. After that laugher vs Dusseldorf, if BVB drops this one too their lead is down to 3. How quickly a 9 point lead can evaporate

Yeah damn... all the draws. Looking like a longshot to get top 4 again.

Damnit @ Alcacer got hurt and had to be subbed off early, but... BVB gets a slick goal from Sancho before the half!

Aaaand then immediately concede one. Back to 1-1

I know it's their schtick, but it would be kind of cool if Brewdog would have a TV with soccer on.

They really should-- you off work early? I am too, I just finished for the year this morning. Didn't feel like making my way to a bar for this one though. 2-1 in the 77'

Ribery turning back time. Scored the last 3 Bayern goals. Survived a tricky stretch with wins over Leipzig and then at Frankfurt. 4 straight clean sheets too now. Playing smarter less risky defense as you saw today. Now alone in 2nd. All of a sudden all the doom and gloom has subsided with Kovac. After the winter transfers we'll see how they are when James and Gnabry are healthy again.
