UF beat MSU. You really can’t see Mizzou beating them?
Dude admitted that he hasn't even seen many games. Somehow I'm a Mizzou homer because Auburn and Miss State aren't impressive.

I would if I was in the Big 10 West.

What does it look like if you kick Missouri and Nebraska back where they belong.
Why would they belong elsewhere ? They're in the B10 and SEC.

If you're going to go just off once the divisions were actually around at the same time then the numbers slightly favor the B10W

Alabama

Auburn have been in the same three conferences of SIA, SOCON, and SEC have played 83 times. Same Conference since 1895.

Florida have been in the same three conferences of SIA, SOCON, and SEC have only played 40 times. Same Conference since 1912.

Georgia have been in the same three conferences of SIA, SOCON, and SEC have played 69 times. Same Conference since 1895.

Louisiana State have been in the same three conferences of SIA, SOCON, and SEC have played 83 times. Same Conference since 1895.

Mississippi State have been in the same three conferences of SIA, SOCON, and SEC have played 103 times. Same Conference since 1896.

Ole Miss have been in the same three conferences of SIA, SOCON, and SEC have only played 66 times. Same Conference since 1895.

Kentucky have been in the same three conferences of SIA, SOCON, and SEC have only played 40 times. Same Conference since 1895.

Tennessee have been in the same three conferences of SIA, SOCON, and SEC have played 101 times. Same Conference since 1895.

Vanderbilt have been in the same three conferences of SIA, SOCON, and SEC have played 84 times. Same Conference since 1895.

123 years of being in the same conferences, and only 26 years of being in divisions. why is there such a discrepancy in how you have played each tam in your conference?

97 years of no divisions and you have played Kentucky 40 times.

106 years of being in the same Conference as Florida. 80 without divisions, and only 40 meetings

Average of these 9 teams being in Alabama's conference is 120.33 years.

Why play one team 103 times, and another team 40 times? Why be in their conference?

I guess because you don't understand how math or history works....

Back in the day, the SIAA had 14-16 members and played a 5 game conference schedule. Sorry to break the news to you, but Florida and Alabama were not that easy to travel between in 1910. Hence the reason that Florida and Mississippi State are far apart in games played.

Same reason that Okie Light has more games against Tulsa than Kansas, despite being in a conference with Kansas since 1960...and not being in one with Tulsa since 1956.

Or, here's a thought, you could exclude the numbers they got when they were in another conference....

Or you could post the numbers for the teams individually and we could all laugh at the futility of half of these teams.

The Big10 quietly implemented protected cross division games.
Penn State - Iowa
Ohio State - Nebraska

Until 1987, the SEC had a 6 game conference schedule. Given that UF played UGA, LSU, Auburn, Kentucky and Mississippi State every year, there wasn’t much opportunity to play the other teams in the conference very often. It’s true UF and Bama didn’t play very often. Then again, UF didn’t play Ole Miss or Vandy or Tennessee very often either.

Of course, UF used to play fsu and miami and an intersectional opponent every year.

So choose what you want to bitch about. Either bitch that we don’t have room on the schedule for miami and an intersectional opponent anymore, OR bitch that we didn’t play some conference opponents all that often in the past.

You can’t have both. There are only so many games on the schedule. We can’t play everybody in the conference regularly AND play a bunch of premier OOC opponents too.

That seems like a dumb idea. There is no historical significance and you just insured your best teams play in season instead of a CCG.

I put this up there with the Big 12 CCG game in bone head ideas land.

Unless this is a move to eliminate divisions...which would make it a good idea.

This is literally what we've been having since going to East West division instead of legends and leaders

I have heard that Mark Dantonio wanted to have a presence in Chicago for recruits so he pushed the B1G to play Northwestern every year. Don’t know if that is true or not but based on losing the last theee against them, doesn’t look like it was a good plan.

And hasn’t the SEC been doing the same thing?
Tenn - Alabama
Florida - LSU
Georgia - Auburn

There's only 5 teams in the 2 divisions with 7+ top 10s in the last 30 years ( if you exclude Nebraska ). So yeah neither division is awesome . The SEC East is slightly better over that time because of the Nattys but it's been a decade since either division won one lol

Yeah, but, um, uh, the SEC manipulates their schedule. The number of times teams played each other before the invention of the airplane, or when railway was the only way teams traveled, or before the first college football tv broadcast proves it. It’s irrefutable, damn it!

If you want to talk about manipulating a schedule, let’s talk about a conference who plays a complete round robin during the season, had to beg the NCAA for a waiver to play an unnecessary championship game because that conference can’t keep the minimum numbers of required teams in said conference to host a conference championship game, just so that they were playing an “important” game on the last weekend like every other conference in existence. But that isn’t an attempted manipulation of the playoff committee, at all.

Gainesville to Tuscaloosa is 448 miles 40 games.

Norman to Lincoln 450 miles 86 games.

We can EITHER play more conference games which means more head to head matchups against all conference members

OR

we can play intersectional ie "out of state" games which seem to be all anybody cares about....that is when they're not whining that we don't play miami every year anymore.

We cannot do both. There are only so many games that a team can play.

Choose one.

You’ll forgive those of us whose team belongs to a conference that isn’t constantly trying to implode for not taking the shining example of what not to do in order to be a successful conference as a template to follow.

Actually you can do both. Most teams do so right now.

I can only think of 1 team that play 2 FCS games in consecutive years.

Yeah, it's dumb for us too, but at least they are mostly historical rivals.

Actually you can't do both and your team certainly doesn't do both.
