The 2020 and 2021 classes are probably the best group of prospects to come out of this state we've ever had. Sav'ell Smalls is the overall #3 prospect for the 2020 class, but the 2021 class is headed by Eastside's J.T. Tuimoloau (DT) who is 247's #1 overall prospect and has a higher rating than Smalls at this point.

UW will have some huge in-state recruiting battles to win in 2020 and 2021.

According to 247's All-Time recruit rankings, Sav'ell Smalls would be the best high school player at any position that a Washington state high school has produced. I think their rankings go back to around 2000.

All-Time Football Players
.

I know it’s just ones opinion but Reggie Williams over Jonathan Stewart?

4-star CB Trent McDuffie will make his commitment announcement on Wed at 6pm.

Its really down to Washington or Stanford at this point.

At 5-10, hes not the standard lockdown outside CB for Lake, but he would be a beast at the nickel CB position which is where he would project to develop at.

I've seen a lot of comparisons to Byron Murphy with Trent McDuffie. Size isn't too far off.

Would be a really nice commitment for the Huskies. Somewhat ironically, he would be the highest rated DB to commit to UW since... Byron Murphy.

#Woof: Huskies Land 4 Star Cornerback

Trent McDuffie is 247's composite #128 overall prospect and the #15 CB prospect in the nation. Their rankings place him at #66 nationally and the #8 CB prospect.

Using 247's composite rankings, he would be the highest rated DB commit since Byron Murphy in the 2016 class.

I got bored and was looking at 247's rankings and Trent McDuffie is the second highest rated CB to commit to UW since 2001.

The only DBs who ranked higher than him were Dashon Goldson (S) and Sean Parker (S).

Kid started out ranked 600 and shot up the boards this season!

Anytime we take one from Stanford, it’s a massive win. Goes to show how much mojo we have right now, especially with our defense.

I'm bored, hungover (what else is new?) and just laying on my couch watching football all day so I thought I'd write up a list on some of the recruits to keep our eyes on over the next month:

-Stephon Wright, DE (#255 OVR, #18 DE): According to 247Sports, he will be announcing his commitment on Wednesday. He previously had an announcement date like a month ago, but visited UW and postponed it. Been thought to be down between ASU and UW. 247's crystal ball projections have him going to ASU, but given him postponing his commitment I think UW has a solid chance at landing him. Worth noting that his Twitter profile cover photo is a picture of a Husky. Would be strange if he has that up and isn't strongly considering committing to UW.

-Kyle Ford, WR (#17 OVR, #3 WR): Seems he's 50/50 between UW and USC. This would be a huge pick-up but one I would say USC is favored at this point. Took his official visit to USC this weekend. Ford will be announcing his decision on January 5th. For what it's worth, he recently re-tweeted Trent McDuffie's decision to commit to USC. He has also shared some UW related videos, something he hasn't done regarding any other school recently. Crystal Ball has him 83% USC, but I believe a pretty prominent recruiting guy put him to UW somewhat recently.

-Daniel Heimuli, ILB (#189 OVR, #13 ILB): He has retweeted a number of UW stuff and 247Sports has him at 100% UW. Obviously anything can happen, but it sounds like he'll commit to UW. He has offers from Alabama, Oregon, etc. Don't believe there is a commitment date for him.

-Kyle Patterson, TE (#1683 OVR, #69 TE): Obviously wouldn't be one of the Huskies higher rated recruits, but we do need a TE for this class. He has good size at 6'6 230lbs. Took his official visit a couple days ago. He has offers from Air Force, Arizona, Rice and Oregon State. UW would clearly be his best offer and I would expect him to commit to UW.

-Laiatu Latu, DE (#112 OVR, #6 DE): This is one of the more interesting recruits to keep our eye on. He seems to be a USC favorite, but his final official visit was at UW this weekend which gives us a good chance. If you're bored, take a look at some of his highlights. He's listed at 6'5 240lbs and he is an incredible athlete. A lot of recent UW tweets as well. Probably influenced by his recent visit, but a good sign to see regardless. He will announce the team he is committing to on Dec. 30th.

As of right now, the recruiting class will include the 20 already committed plus however many of the guys listed above barring any big changes. In a perfect world the Huskies land all five. If that were to happen, it would be hands down the best recruiting class in UW history. If it is "only" Patterson and Heimuli, the class very well could still be considered even better than last year's class which is currently considered the best group we've brought in.

Overall great job recruiting and with an incredible amount of in-state talent available in the 2020 and 2021 classes, UW will be absolutely loaded going forward.

Go Dawgs.

If only I was that productive at work this hungover...

The 3 cups of coffee and 4 beers certainly help. Maybe that should be my new routine.

Latu would be a massive coup. He's a legit pass rush specialist and would be perfect lining up at OLB or DE. Real versatile player. Said to have motor that just doesn't quit.

His parents are very enamored with USC and this would be considered a big time close for us if he picks UW.

He obviously made up his mind and wants to sign early now.
Could still be USC. We"ll see.

Go Dawgs!!!!
