I am saying that I think it's fair to argue that his leadership fuks them up for whatever reason.

I don't get you guys who argue that coaching doesn't matter.

1. You blamed Chilly/Frazier without hesitation for their shortcomings and the impact it had on the team.

2. They coach human players, not robots, hence why the game goes beyond "mechanics" and skill. Kind of like how almost any player was doomed to suck in Cleveland for decades regardless of who it was, at some point coaching/magagement is going to have an effect on players.

3. Look at Patterson. His best work was under Frazier of all people, and now Bellichick. Zimmer even openly admitted he fuked this it up when Patterson was still in Minnesota.


I will give him some credit for his part in making legit players out of the undrafted Thielen and 5th round Diggs. On the flip side though, Jarius Wright went to waste under Zimmer and they have the 1st round bust Treadwell on his resume as well.

I won't speak for anybody else but the reason for me is neither Childress or Frazier deserved to be a head coach, they had accomplished nothing before being named head coach.

Andy Reid called the plays for the Eagles and Childress did nothing after he left the team.

Frazier did nothing as a D Coordinator and has done nothing since he left the team.

Zimmer was good in Dallas, won assistant coach of the year in Cincinnati.

Ask just about anybody especially Cowboys fans ( Right @UK Cowboy ) he was high on peoples lists of head coaching choices.

On just about any list you can find Zimmer is thought of as a top 10 coach in the league, be careful what you wish for!

Great fucking coach IMO

Alright guys I'm not going to lie, 90% of the Zim crap I've talked on here is was basically just trolling. Sorry I wasn't more obvious with that sooner. I'll pump the breaks on trolling about the team, though I'm still holding out hope for the playoffs and will be disappointed if they miss them.

In short, my actual opinion on our coaching situation is that they need to keep Zimmer/Flip around for at least 1 more year of the Cousins experiment. They're too deeply committed to the current path to change course in leadership already. However, they seriously need to hire a Defensive Coordinator that Zimmer is willing to hand defensive play-calling duties over to and have Zim focus entirely on traditional HC duties. I really feel like he'd reach the team better if he didn't have to do the majority of DC duties on top of HC duties. Obviously he'll always have a big impact on our defense regardless of that for as long as he's here, but I definitely wouldn't fire him until they've at least given that a try to see how it works out for the team. As for Flip, for all his shortcomings, I've gotten the feeling that his play-calling for the offense has suffered due to our abysmal O-line. It's difficult to call an offense with a Swiss cheese block of an O-line, especially for a guy with minimal experience in the position like Flip. So, I think Spielman needs to get it together and quit neglecting the O-line for a change before they write Flip off as the OC as well. They probably should just stick with Zimmer baring a complete and utter meltdown next season because as we know far too well, finding a high quality coach is much easier said than done, and we could easily end up making a huge mistake if they can him.

Obviously this year was a disappointment, and obviously Cousins has some clear imperfections that could limit us. But I think that it's imperative to keep continuity with the plan they had with leadership and see what they can't do after addressing the issues I mentioned above. If they improve in those areas, I think they'd be right back in it again for contending for a legit playoff run in 2019. I guess we'll see what they do.





Cliffs:

- Zimmer and co. should be kept around for at least another year. It's too soon to give up on the Cousins plan as originally formulated.

- Get a real DC so Zim can be relieved of D play-calling and focus entirely on standard HC duties. I really think this would help them a lot as a team to quit shouldering him with double duties, even if he wanted it that way before.

- O-line is hands down our biggest need of the off-season. Any other changes to the roster should be secondary to adding at least 3-4 new O-lineman. Any big FA signings should be about the line.

Funny you say that now all of the sudden, but I agree. I got a metric ton of shit from butthurt Zimmer backers on here every single time I've dared to mention it here, of course. As much as I hate seeing them fail, it makes it all the more hilarious to listen to them continue to screech about how "mornoic" I am for suggesting that Zimmer is an overrated coach.

This is a Vikings thread. Not a Wild or Twins thread, mister.

Goes without saying, this season is bust.

Eagles, Vikings, and Jag's all took massive steps back. I would still say Vikings are the most disappointing of them group.

We have Cousin's two more years. While he's easy to blame, problems are more than cousins. Offense really misses shurmur

The #1 priority has to be Offensive line, followed up by improving front 7 for defense. A lot of defensive players are not playing as well as they have, Linval, Griffen (he has things going on, but they're noticeable on the field), Barr, Rhodes.....even the Hitman seems a bit off.

I would let Barr walk and get the comp pick if it were me. And my offseason focus are the two lines
