I just watched the 2005 NFC Championship video for the first time. I know its been around for 12 years, but I just haven't watched it. The last quarter was Super XL. I thought I was over how bad the refs were in that game - but, damn did the Seahawks get screwed out of that one. Even the NFL films highlights were questioning some of the calls.

Bro, even though our Seahawks finally got their SB win, there was some clawing & scratching that happened beforehand that created scars. Consider those as badges of honor.

This brings up a question I've had before. Are there NFL films dvds for the Super Bowl losers?

I watch the XLVIII dvd all the time, but I'd love to have a well-produced season recap for the next year too.

The best I've seen for years we didn't win the trophy were the Rain City Redemption videos, which were awesome for fan films.

To reference the actual OP, after getting a trophy in 2013, I'm over the screwjob in 2005 except that I still feel bad for those players. Matt Hasselbeck, Walter Jones, Shawn Alexander, Coach Holmgren all deserved better.

Yes, I was watching the Seahawks video yearbook for 2005 earlier - which is what started this. I'm not upset about losing as much as just being reminder how horrible the reffing was.

Rain City Redemption is awesome.

I've got most of the first 30 years of video yearbooks digitally, and they can be ordered on dvd from nfl films, but at $30 a piece they're a little too spendy for me.

After the Super Bowl there were a lot of non-Seahawk non-Steeler fans that argued that it wasn't really that bad.

Today, there is virtually no one that views it that way. Heck a large number of Steeler fans agree that the refs were terribly one sided in that game, even if they don't think it changed the outcome.

If someone doesn't think the refs changed the outcome of that game, then there's really no point in ever complaining about a single bad call in any game.

Not being a Seattle guy, I have no idea, but if I were a betting man, at least someone who worked on those videos is a video pro of some kind.

So 'fan' videos, but with a *

:)

To me, the vital call was the OPI. Seattle was the more finesse team, and didn't have all that Steeler history. If they could've got up early, gotten some confidence - who knows how it turns out.

MAY not have changed the outcome, but definitely could have.

the holding on the pass to stevens that got us down to the 1 was the back breaker, we would have taken the lead at that point in all likelihood.

that call got into hasselbeck's head and i think the next play he threw an int and also got called for illegal block in the back for making the tackle.

i have never watched a replay of the game so my memory of it all may be off

Yes, Seahawks got JOBBED in that one... I've moved on, but it stung like hell when it happened, there just wasn't anything good to take from that experience... That was a sad moment for me because I thought the honor system was part of the NFL, that a fix just wouldn't happen because the league had more integrity... I wasn't upset with the Steelers either, they're just playing football, but I wanted to $%@^@ing choke the refs...

Sadness describes my feelings too. I figured Seattle had an uphill climb, but just wanted it to be a good game. I feel like everybody INCLUDING the Steelers got jobbed with that ref performance. But (heh) I don't think the Steelers or their fans are lying awake nights worrying about the * on their Superbowl haul total.

You are correct. It was the "Phantom Hold" on Locklear that should not have been called in a game of that magnitude. Jackson's push off to start the game was also a lame call. It was a minor touch.

My guess is Pete instilled in the team that we weren't going to let the refs shaft us in 48.

Refs did a great job in 48, not just because we won either, but because they let the teams play, and that's how it should be...

So many horrid calls affected the outcome. Somehow the least penalized team in the league avg 2.5 penalties ended up with 12 in that game. Big Ben not crossing the goal line ends in a TD. D-Jack TD wiped out. Stevens down to the 1 wiped out. It was one of the most botched reffed game in SB history. Safe to say I got more drunk and angry towards Steelers fans that night.

The pre-game hype was all centered around this being Jerome Bettis' last game as a pro. The NFL and the refs were hell bent on ensuring he went out a winner.

My theory over the years is that Seattle made a conscious decision to be exactly like the Steelers on D. 'You can't call a penalty every play.'

Instead lets change the rules and bury the D.
