Zion Williamson...does Cleveland get the closest thing to Lebron?

Zion Williamson has got to be one of the most anticipated player in the draft since Lebron. I'm not saying he will be the next Lebron, but he certainly looks the part. He's big, fast, and can jump out of the gym. He looks like a man among kids right now. (and that is after playing UK who is filled with the some of the best athletes)

The bad part for him is that Cleveland will likely be the favorite to land him in the 2019 draft (fortunately they do the stupid lottery thing, so there is a decent chance they won't draw the #1 spot)

I think closest thing to the next Lebron will be his own son, LBJ Jr. Now in a few years, does Cleveland take him in the draft if the opportunity is there?

Oden, Durant, Wall, Griffin and Davis are probably the highest rated prospects since LeBron.

I think Williamson is right there with those guys.

Id rate those guys, as prospects (though I think you have to consider some things about Oden and his body type/injury history) as:

1. Davis
2. Durant
3. Oden
4. Griffin

I dont know if Williamson is as good a prospect as Davis was. That is close. He is without a doubt right up there though.

Barrett and Reddish are actually great prospects. One of the Cavs beat reporters asked Channing Frye who he would take and he said Reddish just because of where the game is going and how shooting is so important.

I obviously think that is a stretch - and woudl without a doubt take Williamson 1, Barrett 2, and Reddish 3.

Williamson is without a doubt a true franchise altering player.

The Cavs do have their secret weapon- Nick Gilbert- to go to the lotto. Lets hope he can pull it out again and get this rebuild super-charged.

If they get Williamson- or even Barrett- this piss-poor season will be well worth it.

i dunno if he will have the size or athleticism worthy of a top pick. We shall see. e is 5' 10" right now- though only a freshman in high school. He has time to grow obviously but if he doesnt grow, and doesnt have super-athleticism- he wont go in the first round- let alone near the top of the draft.

I'm sure LBJ Jr. will have plenty of potential (if he can get his father's physical attributes), but it's pretty rare that a NBA superstar has a son that has anything near the success that those superstars enjoyed in the NBA. Steph Curry, the Barry's, and Klay Thompson are the only ones that come to the top of my mind (I know there has to be more), who had highly successful careers in the shadow of a success NBA father.

Perhaps LBJ Jr. will break that mold. Lebron is SO different than most the NBA superstars of the past and even present (doesn't stay out late, takes care of his body, seems to be VERY disciplined with his time). As opposed to how many NBA superstars conduct themselves (gambling, clubbing, sleeping around, not involved in kids lives much). So maybe Lebron will pass those traits on to his kids.

i hope not

Williamson is going ot be insanely goood

i hope the Cavs get him

but Barrett, or even Reddish would be nice consolation prizes.

Williamson would give you THAT GUY though....once you have that GUY- the rest becomes a lot easier.

until you get THAT GUY- you are not shit in the NBA.

Zion might be that guy, or he might be Big Baby/Tractor Traylor 3.0

Lotta hot takes on him.

RJ Barrett will be a better pro. Zion is perfect for ESPN to drool over while he throws down dunks at duke.

Barrett is the real deal.

Really? This is funny. Have you seen Zion play yet? Big Baby & Tractor didn't have a tenth of the talent Williamson has.

yah i think Zion is the real deal. it might be easy to fall into that default- he is a great athlete but it wont translate- but its just not the case with this guy

his passing is unreal, he can make plays.....his outside shot will take some time to develop but i think it will get there.

Since LeBron- I think AD has been the best prospect, but Williamson is right up there with KD, Oden, Griffin, WAll after that.

Nobody that big should be able to move like that. And it's not often I actually like watching a dookie play. The only other one was Grant Hill. I've never really been good at predicting what a player will do @ the next level but he really seems to be the real deal.

I think the lottery is rigged, which should mean that Cleveland will have the top pick the year Lebrons kid comes into the league.

Probably. It's the Cavs.

Even if he isn't his dad.

Cleveland has already had their share of rigs in their favor and got their championship. Stern is gone and it's someone else's turn.

I could be weong but not sure if Zion has even close to the vision or dribbling skills Lebron had, like I daid havent seen a ton of him. I think RJ is a mini KD. I love both but Zion is probably the guy that will translate IMMEDIATELY. Reddish seems to he a knockdown shooter as well

Williamson is “the next big thing”. A “can’t miss” prospect.

Traylor was the #6 pick and Baby was damn near Mr Irrevelant. Where is the comparison?
