...back in preseason because he thought they weren't focused and their prep was off?

I thought he was overreacting, but clearly he knew/knows something wasn't right and spotted it early on. IIRC, he didn't name names, but you gotta wonder who he was thinking about. Our immediate thought was "the players", but could he have been actually pointing to the coaches (more specifically Schwartz?)?

And i put that together with Doug's hinting throughout the season's losses at their prep.

I also think about how EVERYBODY writers, tv guys, reporters, who set foot in the eagles lockerroom last year kept saying "Something is going on here; this is a special group of guys who play for each other". Nobody is saying anything like that this year. Spadero was on the radio this morning and said he hasn't noticed anything "off" during the week and he thought based on last weeks practice a win vs Dallas was in the bag. Then he said he couldn't judge anything anymore based off of their practice.

Strange things are afoot at Novacare for sure.

Doug is not getting any help from his assistants. He has to replace Groh, and Schwartz has to go. We need to have a complete overhaul of the secondary.

No, he's a dumbass and is playing like shit. They should have left it up. They completely forget who they're supposed to be.

Fuck Press Taylor too. Who is this little bitch and why can't he get anything at all out of Wentz?

I am pretty sure this is sarcasm....if so apologies to address it otherwise.

Here is my feeling on Wentz.....he is not 100% yet. ACLs are a one year recovery. That doesn't mean one year until you can stand up right and maybe even be out on that field with a brace on.

But I don't think we have a fully solid Wentz. The brace could be limiting....the knee itself could be limiting as quick moves and cuts in the backfield go. He is pocket and stone back there....and I don't believe that is driven by scheme, but necessity right now. Sure, he is getting MASSIVE pressure due to the meltdown of the line....but too many forget that the Oline had him running around a lot last year (he just clearly had the ability to move around and create).

I am not saying this kid brought in to coach him is the right move....I just don't know if he can be fully evaluated on all these factors.

This is SUPER interesting to me and has had my head moving in this direction since I read it this morning. There is something in the undercurrent of this team.....players....coaches....whatever.

I think too many people in important roles have stopped to bask in the glow far too long and have lost that edge.

Repeated simply recently here....."hungry dogs run faster". They just are not hungry.

Where to go from here.....this could very quickly just turn into a one hit wonder situation (think Seahawks a few years back....or hell 2008 Phillies for some local comparison). Or they could figure things out and start moving back to that thing that made us great last year.

My biggest fear at this point is that......no one knows what it was that made us great last year. So how can they recreate it?

I don’t think the SB stuff should have any impact. They are who they are, which is mostly not very good.

Seahawks went back to the super bowl the next year. 1 SB win but more impressive than what this team has done.

Not sarcasm. The QB is playing like shit and the QB coach hasn't improved one fucking thing.

Superbowl hangover at it's best. It was expected. Most saw it except the players and coaches. From the book tours to Wentz pressing on being better than Foles playoff run in the regular season. Even though I was given them a pass this year, I did expected them to make it back or at least another deep playoff run this season. Now next season is the when hammer comes down and we really really see what we have. I think the only coach that's gonna be gone in the off season is Schwartz.

They have to bring in another offensive guy. Co-OC? ANOTHER assistant HC? I don’t know. Groh ain’t the guy.

God Damn it, Orlando. I was at the Dallas game, if you told me that hungry thing then I could have gotten up in the face of all the fat happy players! Get Hungry.

Too late now.

The offense will absolutely suck again without better coaching.

They have a pretty good start at this one since I think they only have one or two players left there.

I dunno. I just remember in 2016 i thought doug was dumb. In 2017, i thought he was "less dumb" but around the time we were 10-1, i felt--i shit you not--"we better win it all this year because all the coaches are gonna get poached regardless, and we'll be stuck with dumb doug and no championship. That would be the worst possible outcome." The success after Wentz went down and the SB win shut me up. But dammit if in 2018 i don't feel like i was right about Doug.

Least we won the bowl.
