Should the yankees grab Manny Machado this year.... Or wait for Xander Bogaerts next year?

As much as I dislike Machado, he is the better player and the Yanks probably gotta strike while the iron is hot. They can also plan to sign Xander anyway if Manny's knee explodes again.

I think their best bet would be to go for Machado.

Yanks will entertain Machado but the Phillies are prepared to spend "stupid money" to bring in Harper and Machado. Expect Yanks to go harder on starting pitching. They'll bring in Corbin and Keuchel is willing to shave his beard off for the right price.

Isn't Dale Berra still bouncing around somewhere?
Or ARod can play SS gratis to make up for his crimes??

Not that crazy about Keuchel, beardless or not. Yes, he has a history of pitching very well against the Yanks, but the Sox beat him like a red-headed stepchild.

I hope they don't go after Machado, they're too right handed as it is and he's a better 3rd baseman than SS. Move over Torres, sign guys like Walker (Resign in his case) and Murphy to play 2nd and first and some DH. That's a switch hitter and a lefty guy who makes a lot of contact and wait for Didi to return.

Guess New Yankee might fuck with Manny's power pretty bad...his career numbers there aren't much worse than his career averages, though. Actually has hit worse at Fenway!
The park is a lot better to righties than the original old Yankee configuration...Joe DiMaggio could hit a hanging change on the screws on a day he had eaten his Wheaties and taken some monkey gland extract to be rewarded by a long fly caught maybe 20 feet from the LCF fence. Of course, Mantle batting righty could clear it if he had less than 30 beers the night before.

Hope the Yankees sign them all. Still won't beat the Red Sox. The only thing that keeps the Yankees' heads above water is that they don't care about the Luxury Tax because idiots will pay $17 for a hot dog and $21 for a 12 oz beer.

Only teams to pay the luxury tax for 2018?

Boston & Washington

So your real point is that the only thing that keeps the Red Sox' head above water is they don't care about the luxury tax?

Cool.

Short memory? Remember a guy named George Steinbrenner?

Sure do.

He didn't have to operate under luxury tax restrictions.

His son does.

My point is, when you just had the highest payroll to ever win a world championship, it's pretty silly to attack the Yankees for exceeding the luxury tax (especially when they didn't).

The Red Sox also are #2 on the list for most expensive beer and hot dogs.....So those idiots are helping keep their heads above water as well.....
