Has Martin Jones had a game this season with a sv pct above .880 yet?

Need to stay with Dell in net
I'm hoping that shut out at least gets Dell a few consecutive shots at the gig and he runs away with it. Jones has looked AWFUL this year. I know some of it is probably a change in the pads, etc. since scoring is way up but Christ-in-a-handbasket he's been atrocious. I'm confident that in the very least Dell would be as "good" and likely better. He's certainly more limber and mobile and recovers a LOT better than Jones. Neither of them seem to know how to stop rebounds to save their lives and like leaving their hole to go play the puck behind their net a little too often (Dell is worse than Jones at this - but that would be a small price to pay). I honestly feel like if the Sharks get rolling at some point instead of treading water like they have been that their goaltending will be their undoing come the playoffs. I'd love it if they could somehow trade Jones to the Bolts since their starter is out for a bit but I highly doubt that will happen. I miss Nabby lol.

Jones down lateral mobility has always been suspect, his mechanics seem awful not square to the puck and opens up 5 hole, 7 Hole and gets consistently beat around his shoulders because he plays so narrow. On top of that he’s just getting beat on plain shots, like 1980’s wind up and let her rip that’s not good. Give him time off dell can carry the load for now while jones works with coaches and unfucks his game

No arguments about his lateral mobility being suspect but it's gotten that much WORSE. I can't believe they didn't go with Dell for a second game after he got a shutout. As you said, his positioning is even awful this year and because he's been so slow to recover he looks like a beached whale out there several times a game trying to scramble back while flopping about. It's so insanely irritating watching him being run out there over and over. I hate to wish an injury on someone but it's getting close to Jones. Dell needs a shot at the gig asap before they keep giving away more vital points.
A lot of the goals he gives up aren't even off rebounds or crazy bounces but as you said, just wind up and let it fly and it goes in.

He’s a big guy so it’s not easy on him with that downside push I can relate lol but he’s a pro I was a beer league NHLer lol I wonder what he’s been doing in the off season in terms of trainging because honestly it doesn’t look like much, generally you get gradual improvement throughout a career but he seems to have stalled. Still hasn’t improved down lateral movement hasn’t improved at blocker side or 7 hole or playing narrow for his frame. What’s maddening though when he’s on he’s an absolute beast

back to back shutouts by Dell =)
he made a couple really nice saves in the process and also made that glorious poke check. Neither of these guys can wrangle rebounds though lol. it's almost comically bad at times.

it's also nice to see EK65 starting to gel a bit. My wife hated the trade (she loved Tierney) and has been giving me shit all season long and blames EK even if he's not on the ice just to get on my nerves. I kept telling her he'll get going about 1/4 of the way into the season - he just needs some time to fit in on a largely veteran team that has been together for awhile.
So....
She still blames him for everything.

He’s a generational talent and the sharks need to adjust to his style of play as welll as him but mainly the sharks lol

Feels like an agonizing start to the season. Up and down, good wins then bad losses. We can beat Calgary and Nashville but god forbid we play Rangers or the Blues. We are 12-8-4 right now, this time last year we were 14-8-2. I know it's not a dramatic difference, but it feels different than last year.

Has Martin Jones had a game this season with a sv pct above .880 yet?

He has 3 in the 6 games he's played this month and has 10 on the year. We are 7-2-1 in his above .880 games. Dell has started 8 games and 6 of them are over .880, including 2 perfect games. We are 3-1-2 in his above .880 games.

I don't think our biggest problem is the goalie position. I think it's on defense.

It’s more about the type goals jones is giving up overall. He’s been subpar at best this season the one great game he had the team did shit the bed in front of him. What’s his goal support versus dells?

7 games out of 16 with a sub .900 sv% thats not good enough for a starting goalie getting paid what he’s getting paid

4 of 8 with Dell. Dell is definitely the better choice in my opinion and I think you would agree as well.

According to Hockey Reference, Dell has 4 quality starts of his 8, while Jones has 5 out of his 16. Quality start is measured as a SV% that is over the SV% season average OR a SV% of at least 88.5% with 20 or fewer shots taken. Another stat that I like that they do is RBS, which is Really Bad Starts, which is measured as a start with a SV% of lower than 85%. Jones is 14th in the league with 3, while Dell only has 1.

I really wish the defensive pairings would be changed up for a few games just to see if they can find something that clicks a bit better. Petey has shuffled the forwards a bit this year on and off but I don't recall much being done with the defensive pairings. The Sharks have been treading water all season. In watching them it just feels like something is "missing" - but i'm not quite sure what.

On a side note - if any of you have the NHL Center Ice package do you notice that the cameras for the Canadian teams are WAAAAAAAAAY better than the US teams? The wife didn't believe me and thought I was crazy until the other day when I showed her the difference using the Oilers, Flames, and Leafs versus a feed from the Sharks, Tampa, and Rangers. The image is brighter, clearer, and doesn't blur nearly as bad when tracking players. It's so bizarre but it's definitely noticeable.

YES! My buddies and I were talking about this a couple weeks ago. I think it was an Edmonton game we were watching when they were hosting Montreal. IDK what they are doing differently on their broadcasts but it is a MUCH better viewing experience. Only think I can think of is that they are using 4K type cameras that they use to film movies nowadays. But I may be wrong. But yeah, you are totally right.

thank God i'm not crazy. it's VERY noticeable once you know there's a pretty big difference. I've seen some feeds that were supposedly HD that looked almost standard def compared to the Canadian feeds.

This hot and cold team needs to get on a run here before the end of the year. We haven't won more than 2 straight since October and we have 9 games before the end of the year. If we can we at least 6-7 of these, we are probably gonna be in good shape to be decently places by the All-Star break.
