sure they do. Minshew leads FBS in passing yards, but he's thrown 135 more pass attempts than the guy with the 2nd most. Despite the yards, he has a mere 7.4 yards per attempt (66th in NCAA). He ranks 37th among QBs in passer rating and Wazzu is 37th in passing S&P+.

not all offenses throw/run equally.

Which is what I had alluded to earlier. Primary stats do not indicate success(winning). Secondary and even tertiary stats seem to be better indicators.

Looking at the stat leaders and their team's record:

Stats from CBS

Passing yards:

1. Gardner Minshew II Wash St 9-1
2. Jordan Ta'amu Miss 5-5
3. Dwayne Haskins Ohio St 9-1
4. Cole McDonald Hawaii 6-5
5. Taylor Cornelius Ok State 5-5

Receiving yards:

1. Andy Isabella Mass 4-7
2. Antoine Wesley TxTech 5-5
3. Tylan Wallace Ok State 5-5
4. John Ursua Hawaii 6-5
5. A.J. Brown Miss 5-5

Rushing yards:

1. Jonathan Taylor Wisc 6-4
2. Darrell Henderson Memphis 6-4
3. Eno Benjamin Ariz State 6-4
4. J.J. Taylor Ariz 5-5
5. Jermar Jefferson Oregon St 2-8

Only 2 Top 10 teams mentioned, Ohio St and Wash St #'s 8 & 9 Passing yards seem to have some minor correlation to winning.

Moral: get balanced, play defense and forget about having superstars

Of course 'Individual' stats don't. 'Team' stats often do.

Total offense, Total Defense, etc.
