Traveled overseas on 16.5 & 14.5 hour flights so I got a lot of new movies in...

Ant Man & Wasp

Awesome movie. Great mix of action & comedy just like the 1st film. Evangeline Lilly is a badass. Also loved the Ghost character. Fishburne was a good supporting role. Loved the cast all around. 8/10

Equalizer 2

Denzel does it again. Not as focused as the 1st film, but still just as enjoyable even though I liked the 1st better. Final climactic fight was pretty badass, although didn't feel very feasible given the group he took down 1 by 1 were highly trained operatives. Seems like it was too easy for him. But loved that they had him do it with knives to give it a more personal revenge touch. 7/10

Mission Impossible: Fallout

Huge fan of this franchise and this film didn't disappoint. I don't care how overplayed it is, it's awesome. And yes Tom Cruise still has it. He's definitely starting to show his age though. He had a lot of running scenes in this one and he's noticeably losing a step or 2 lol. Would have liked a more badass Henry Cavill character, but he was pretty good. They played him up to be some sort of "hammer" badass but he instantly regressed in the following parachute & fight scenes. Or maybe that asian dude was just that much of a badass. Excellent plot & climax though. Very reminiscent of the original. 8/10

Incredibles 2

Original was one of my favorite Pixar films. This was a solid film. Sort of dragged to develop but ended up liking it. Same family fun with good mix of kid & adult humor. 7/10

Oceans 8

Felt like this film tried to hard to be clever. Not bad though. Didn't like some of the casting but it achieved its goal. 5/10

Skyscraper

The usual cliche-ridden action-packed Dwayne Johnson film. Not bad entertainment, just more of the same. The Rock is always entertaining though. 5/10

The Meg

Hilariously cheesy and chalked full of impossibilities. But we already knew what to expect. Good special fx. 4/10

Hereditary

Saving this review for the horror thread. But in short, I liked it. Slow pace but the end was worth the wait. 7.5/10

Halloween (2018): I enjoyed it. I felt that it didn't try to do too much, it also utilized a lot of the camera movements/stills that made the first good. It felt like the original style of Halloween and not some bogus sequel or some dumb Rob Zombie spin. However, not many jump scares.

7.5/10

Papillon 2017......with Charlie Hunnam and Rami Malik....

I was actually pleasantly surprised. Both actors were very good. I watched some of Mr. Robot but couldn't get into it very much, but Malik is a pretty good actor.

8/10 for me.

Bohemian Rhapsody

I really enjoyed it. Looks like it wasn't a hit on metacritic. Apparently, some thought it should have been an LBGT pride piece. Touched on his sexuality, relationship with his father and AIDS. But for the most part it was about the music and the band. Queens former manager was a producer and said that that's the way Freddy would have wanted it made.

Crazy Rich Asians....had a few laughs, but was generally pretty weak sauce.
I did like how they made fun of the lead actress having no tits.

Battleship.

A guilty pleasure for me. I love Big Moe rolling out to Thunderstruck....

Hokey as hell but I never miss it.

Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)

This is a solid movie with a great performance by Rami Malek, lip synching of course. Some historical inaccuracies bothered me a bit, but it's sill enjoyable.

Saw Ballad of Buster Scruggs. It's a Cohen Brothers checklist.

The 3rd and 4th chapter are a really tough grind but I liked all 6.

You watched 11 movies??? In a row??????

If I could watch 11 movies in a row, I could probably solve world hunger. Because I love watching movies, but I don't know the last time I've ever watched two movies back to back. I'll occasionally watch 2 movies in a day, but even that's pretty rare. 70% of the time I have to watch a movie for an hour, wait about 3 or 4 hours, and then finish it.

Goddamn I marvel at your attention span.

As for the movies you watched that I've seen:

Interstellar: 4/5 stars
Horrible Bosses: 4.5/5 stars

And I saw The Truman Show a long time ago. I remember mildly to moderately enjoying it, but can't remember what rating I gave it.

Bohemian Rhapsody. Very good.
Bohemian Rhapsody: 3.5/5 stars. He was lip-syncing? Honestly, it didn't sound like Freddie at times, so I thought it was Malek. Regardless, Malek gave a great performance. The first half had the subtlety of getting hit over the head with a hammer, but the second half really kicked into gear. It not only delivered the awesomeness of Live Aid, but also hit some emotional high notes with showing Freddie dying and saying that he wanted to go out on his terms and didn't want to be an 'AIDS martyr,' or whatever the exact phrase used was.

Is this the one with Rihanna and Liam Neeson? I'll pass.

Wasn't He lip syncing over his own singing? I did just read how inaccurate the movie is.

It was over two flights, but there wasn't much else to do. Some old favorite comedies on there were mainly watched to help me sleep.
