Nuggets and Pelicans look much better than I thought. And I thought Denver would be a 5/6 seed in the West. They might end up 1/2 when it's all said and done. Pelicans look like a playoff team again. Just looking at the early returns, if you assume GSW, Nuggets and Pelicans are locks for the playoffs, which of these teams misses out? Rockets, Jazz, OKC, Blazers, Spurs, Lakers, Timberwolves? 5 spots for 7 teams, and that doesn't include the Clippers who are off to a surprisingly good start(wins over Houston and OKC, losses to Nuggets and Pelicans).

It's too soon though, last year didn't the Magic come out strong the first 20 games or so?

That makes me wonder something you fellow nerds can help me with. About how deep into an NBA season is it reasonable to start saying ok this is what this team is...20 games? 30? Allstar break? I feel like 20-25 gmes maybe...

Im not surprised. Paul seems like a douche. Always has. What has he ever won anyway?

Id take Rondo and his grit anyday.

i have always thought Paul was over rated. Great stat guy but not a winner and he has played on some pretty stacked teams

6ers still have trouble closing out games(not talking about overtime, but the game in general). Detroit outplayed us in OT. JJ hit a couple of crazy 3's, to keep us in it. That was a crazy game. I'm not sure why Fultz didn't get more run? I realize he's not good at defense, but he actually wasn't a complete liability with his shooting tonight.

Not much you can do when Griffin should 60% on 35 shots and 50% from 3. A healthy Simmons and we win that game for sure.

Really strange that Fultz sat the last 15 minutes or so.

What stacked teams are we exactly talking about? The Clippers weren't stacked. Last year was the best team he ever played on. Those New Orleans were not good at all. The Clippers team was solid but they were never going to do anything more than the 2nd round in the West with those Warriors, Thunder, and Spurs team.

Last year Rockets team was his only legit chance to make the finals and they likely make the finals if he doesn't get hurt

Those clippers teams were stacked. Paul, Griffin, Jordan , Redick, Crawford. All in their primes

Well if Paul was the leader he is percived to be he could have made them better

I mean Rondo got out of the East with Pierce and an aging Garnett

I could have gotten out of the East with Pierce, Allen, and Garnett on my team.

Paul didn't make the Clippers better? They went from 32-50 to 56-26 2 years later thanks to CP3.

Reality is the Clippers never had a roster capable of making the finals in the West.

Odds Lue finishes the year still coaching the Cavs...25%? 30%?
90% if you ask me.

He signed a long term contract- its a year of transition where they are not winning anything anyway. The pieces dont fit- there are some decent young guys but its a team that was built around LeBron.

Gilbert likes him. They have a young GM and need the stability.

They need to get rid of guys like JR, Hill, Korver, etc. and move into the next era. If they can get a package that is solid for Love trade him- if not keep him- his contract actually goes down as the years go by and his game should age well considering he has never relied on athleticism to begin with. 30M a year for Kevin Love is very reasonable in today's salary climate.

After 4 years of living the good life its gonna be a rough one with mismatched pieces and no true top level elite talent. There is a lot of work to do- and it really cant get started until this offseason considering they were still waiting on LeBron in early July.

the funny thing is this will be like the millionth straight year for the CAvs where the regular season does not matter- whether that was pre LeBron leaving only the playoffs mattered- to post LeBron tanking- to LeBron being back and the regular season not meaning much again.

Next year might be the first year where the regular season actually matters to the Cavs in like 12-13 years.
