Gruden stated that Carr is the only untouchable on the team. If that is the case, why go after a QB?
Yea, Carr is plenty touchable, but 1.) No one is gonna pay the price it'll take to get a QB that has shown he CAN BE a very good NFL QB, but just isnt. And 2.) unless a pipe dream offer is already on the table, you don't publicly entertain the idea you're looking to deal your starting QB

Amari Cooper to the cowboys....interesting move

helps: Dak, Jordy, Jared Cook
indifferent: Cooper
plummets: gallup
Why would Gallup plummet? He's no longer the most dangerous outside receiver on the team. If you're going to roll coverage to someone, wouldn't you pick Cooper? Maybe he's no longer destined to be the Cowboys #1, but the guy across from Cooper has outproduced Cooper pretty much his entire career.

Game on, game effing on. You'll have to Gruden-esque tank to let me win

Go take a look at my team right now. The only thing I have going for me right now is that I have 3 1st round picks next year and 2 2nd rounders after that.

I'll say it again...
Gruden has done lost his mind.
Well, they're obviously past the point of pretending to compete this year, have been for awhile now. A #1 for an underperforming WR seems like an awesome coup to me. (I also still thank Da Bears for their generosity too)
Some of his moves are head scratchers, but this was a big win for Gruden. Getting a first for a WR with bad hands. He's now has 3 first round picks next year and 79 million in cap space. Setting himself up for a fast rebuild, if he hits with his draft picks.
Big IF but yes. Early returns on his first draft are overall good, so at least there's that.
I still disagree with the "bad hands" moniker though..you don't go an entire NFL season with only 4 drops, all of which in the same game, if you have bad hands (2017). Yes he's had drop issues, he's also got amazing hands. Not really sure how to explain the drops, gotta be a focus issue, but dude can catch

They got a 1st. This looks like no brainer.

And Gruden has the ammo to get any QB he wants and rebuild.

Personally hope he spends em all on the defense, or Oline, grabs a couple decent free agent WR's, rides Carr one more year (contract has an out clause after 2019) than grabs his QB. Thus far the college QB class has two MAYBE three "franchise-type" prospects, one of which (Herbert) is likely to stay in school. I'd wait, why not? Taking a QB high just to take a QB high is a huge mistake

he has to hit every single one of those picks, for what hes done, if he misses even one he should be on the hot seat

He won't be. No way they rock that boat until after they are in Vegas. He's got a minimum of four years (this one and the next three) before its even considered. Guarantee his plans to completely overhaul the roster were part of the negotiations to come back.

I suppose.
Of course you know my view...
If the idea behind a draft pick is to get a player you can build your team around, he's just unloaded 2 and now he has to hope he can successfully draft their replacements.

Don't forget about the cap space he created. Mack was great, but really spendy and Cooper was a under achiever.

With that contract he won’t be on the hot seat for years.

At $4.67 million Mack wasn't that expensive, but with his new contract of $23.5 million he is overpaid. The Raiders were not going to give him that.

Cap space he saved then. :)

Raiders D wasn't going to stop anyone with Mack..no point in paying it
