scoring defense, specifically red zone defense is my biggest concern. Defense was put in multiple bad spots by special teams and offense last week but gave up TDs every time. Cant do that
Yeah. They have given up more TDs than we would've liked there; however, they have been noticeably better on preventing 3rd & long conversions. Can't really harp on the D too much for being put in terrible spots and not bailing the team out; but can harp on them being in advantageous spots and failing.

Ding Ding Ding!! We have a winner!! Yea, the D was put in tough positions last Sunday but giving up TD's isn't the sign of a good defense. Maybe by the end of the season they will be solid in all categories. :rolleyes2:

I still think Capers had to go but after watching some of this game tonight, I’m convinced the scouting personnel and coaches are clueless as to what a impact player is. Just inexcusable as to how the 49ers went up and down the field at will. The only reason they might make the playoffs is because of no 12, that’s it. If they do, the defense will be the reason they lose like always.

The defense was really disappointing yesterday, no doubt. But in 5/6 games this year, they have given up 6, 7, 0, 7, and 6 points in the 2nd halves. There's still a lot of young players working their way into a new system with a new coordinator. I still have hope that they will improve over the course of the season.

We have been without our top two corners several times tops. The shuffling that ensues causes issues similar to our OL

I hate to use injuries as a reason the defense plays like shit. For whatever reason they can only play decent for 30 minutes. Maybe someone should tell them there is 60 minutes in a game. :rolleyes2:

Very frustrating watching the defense get gashed at home against a back up QB mainly because they don’t have the talent to get pressure on a consistent basis. What doesn’t help is the uncanny ability of GB to draft injury prone players.

Im not saying its the only reason but it would be silly to say it doesnt factor.

Outside of that the pass rush has been unacceptable

Aw man, the Rams destroyed the niners. Looking at the upcoming schedule.......I can see GB losing most of those games. At the same time, with #12 behind center they have a chance. The biggest question mark will be the defense. At worst, I see them winning maybe 3 more games if the defense continues the trend of poor play against experienced QBs or for whatever reason, they flip a switch and play at a different level and pull out some W’s in games they will probably lose.

Ive noticed that the defense is easily fooled. Im not talking about the trick plays but just in general. They have a long way to go.

Huge youth movement does that. Also those clamoring for Josh Jones to get snaps now sees why Pettine wasnt eager to do so

Good point. This is where TT's draft and develop philosophy bites him in the arse. I know hes gone now but its still in place to a degree. The only true vet in the secondary is Williams. I wonder if GB is regretting giving Perry another contract?

Perry has been invisible however he was by far the best available at the time. It made sense to give him that deal because no one else was left.

Looking to next year an beyond this team will look much different. We have some contracts expiring and I like Gute wearing the GM hat thus far.

...Searching the classifieds for a new job soon. There's no chance in hell he's re-signing with the Packers this offseason. He's carrying a cap hit of $12.7 million and is the 6th-best receiver on the team right now.

Cobb (12.7)
Allison (630k)
Tonyan (480k)
Kumerov (425k)
Kendricks (2.225)
Lewis (2.1)
Bell (1.71)
McCray (555k)
Patrick (555k)
Wilkerson (4.888)
Gilbert (480k)
Lancaster (367k)
CMIII (11.368)
Ryan (2.02)
Toomer (630k)
House (720k)
Breeland (609k)
Brice (631k)
Whitehead (555k)
Kaser (334k) - although I bet we cut him this week

All of those is coming off the books this offseason. It totals 43.982.

Several of those are restricted or exclusive rights FAs so some will undoubtedly return. We also have 6+ mill in rollover unless we sign someone like Bruce Irvin, which none of us expect. I think Gute will be active this offseason.

Honestly, I think they should have kept Jordy over Cobb. He's too inconsistent. You just don't know when he's going to show up. This team is in a state of confusion right now and it starts with the HC.

They were correct that Adams was ready to take over Jordy's role. I am assuming they kept Cobb because of age and his ability out of the slot and production in the middle of the field. However at this point I wish both were gone as much as it pains me to say it...

I agree that I would've rather kept Jordy over Cobb, but honestly I think they both really needed to go. Both guys have been plagued by injuries the last few years and both now struggle to run crisp routes and get separation in man coverage.
