The 15 seed is eliminated in CFB before the season even starts .

The point is that 70% of cfb has zero chance of making the playoff before opening kick opening day . Another 20% are finished by week 6 and another 5% by week 9.

If "every game matters" means 95% of games don't matter then I think you've got it right lol

So let me ask you. Ask a Michigan fan did you enjoy your basketball teams runs in 2013 and 2018?

Be honest . Of course you did. In 10 years when you discuss those teams will you lead with "well we finished 5th in the B10" or will you lead with " we made it to the Natty"
At least you are admitting that your idea is about a welfare program. 5th place team can still have glory.

You want to attempt to make things more balanced in a sport where 95% of the top talent goes to what? Maybe 6-7 teams? :noidea:

It's easier for a basketball team to get hot and upset their way around. There are only 5 of them on the court and shooting is so streaky (among other reasons).

Football isn't basketball. Your welfare system would only break what is actually good in this sport in the name of getting Iowa more chances at the playoffs because they can't get it done now under the current system. And that's quite sad.

?? Yes ? They play 8 now. They'd need to play 9.

Listen I know 32 is never going to happen I'm just saying it could work and I think it'd be more exciting for more fans , more teams and make more games meaningful
You think there is going to be a lot of excitement having one loss teams slaughter 5 loss teams? I’m not so sure. Plus at that point, you might as well kill off the other 25 bowl games. They will have less viership than the NIT.

The point is that a 15 seed could win though . It's adding excitement to their season , creating more viewers, making more games mean something and creating memories for when a 15 beats a 2 . No one cares about a low seed winning it all or even believes they could . It's about interest all across CFB

A 15 seed has never won a championship...not even close. So why create a false narrative, so we can create a false excitement for a team that most people don't care about? It wouldn't create any more viewers than the Big South tournament winner does each year in the NCAA tournament.

Well the first round games averaged 4.8 million viewers. That is 160 million right there lol
Let's see totals. I gave you mine. Let's see yours. Not more guessing. Numbers.

And then we will add on top of that average gate for each sport to those events and see which had more eyes.

Of course it's about more access. More access equals more interest which equals more eyes which equals more money

Or it will be less viewers because the playoff games are less “must watch TV” since there is now 31 of them instead of 3.

That's not a guess . It's what happened . Title game had 17 million viewers . Each final 4 game 13 million . That's 200 million right there without the 2nd round , Sweet 16 or Elite 8. It's not remotely close

Preposterous man. You think less people would watch Alabama vs Troy in a first round playoff game that Troy vs North Texas in the New Orleans Bowl? Come on.

More false bullshit based off flawed assumptions. No, it would not end up that way. Again, you are taking 2-3 home games away from every single team and all of that lost revenue. All of that lost revenue for the lower teams that go visit the big teams for big paydays (many many millions lost there). All of the eliminated rivalries and travel for fans often early in the season when the weather is likely to be half way decent.
No more glory of winning your conference in divisional CCG face offs.

And what we get is a bloated welfare system playoff that will keep a dozen or so more fan bases a bit more tuned in later in the season, but also knowing losses no longer really mean much so don't get all that worked up on regular season games anymore.

There is a whole lot more lost there than gained. And thankfully I'm in the majority that sees that. Including those responsible for forming and managing these things. That's a huge relief right there.

You are suggesting that as many people will tune in to watch Alabama vs Troy as they are the Auburn vs Washington.

But that's Alabama. They will draw a crowd playing Prairie View.

What about 75% of the other games? 16 of them having to be played in probably 8-10 days time.

No, the title game had 10 million. It was the CFP final that had 17. Again, you just throw things around without actually doing the work. And then wonder why so many can't take your nonsense here seriously. :L

Try facts.

160 million first round views ( 4.8 million average times 32 games )
Wait you want a 64 team playoff? Jesus, you want .500 teams in the playoffs? Why not just add one more round and a couple of play-in games and everyone gets their participation trophy.

I'm suggesting yiy get both. You'd get 31 meaningful playoff games plus 28 extra league games plus you'd still get some good ooc games . That's likely 75 games that mean something

There aren't 75 meaningful ooc, ccg or bowl games in a year right now

Dude we play 60 games very Saturday . Playing 16 over a couple days is nothing

There won’t be any good OOC games. Be real.

Lol. Those are the numbers for last year's basketball tourney . Wizard was questioning whether more people watched that then watched bowl season ( they do, it's not close )

So it's not 5 weeks of post season, it's now 7. You either want to give bama 6 straight weeks of home games or ask for that travel. Give a massive windfall to the top tier teams because of their seeds and home games. Make all of those welfare teams travel up the ying yang. And expect some massive handout system to make up for the lost revenue.

Man oh man is this just nothing short of stupid.
