So far, 7 FCS teams have won games over FBS teams.

UC Davis beat San Jose State
Villanova beat Temple
Northern Arizona beat UTEP
Nicholls State beat Kansas
North Carolina A&T beat ECU
Maine beat Western Kentucky
Illinois State beat Colorado State

In 2017, 9 FCS teams won over their FBS opponents
In 2016, that number was 10
In 2015, that number was 9

Is there ever going to be a time where there is no FBS/FCS split? Will D1 Football ever just be D1 Football and encompass ALL of D1?

Give UNA a few years to complete their transition to FCS, and they'll start racking up more wins against FBS teams too.

I hope not. That would really screw up a lot of successful FCS programs when they legitimately would no chance at winning a national title.

In actuality, there will be a 3rd Div 1 grouping before there is
just 1 Div encompassing all.

Wait, you pick wins over bad FBS teams as an argument for doing away with divisions? :L

The split is due to budgets man. FCS schools have lower scholarships and much MUCH smaller teams/overhead. They can give only the equivalence of 63 scholarships (although they can divide it with up to 85 players) while FBS of course can give a full 85 to 85 players and most higher level schools have walk ons above that count.

THAT is what the division is about. Money. The cost of having a team vs the money coming in.

There are teams that go from one to the other for financial reasons. Didn't Idaho drop recently? And others have came up. Again, based on finances.

No, we do not need to eliminate the designations. Let the FCS have their cake and eat it too. That is, let them have their interconference play, their own tournament, and still the ability to make extra cash playing FBS teams as it suits them. Again, to bring more balance to their budgets.

If anything, we need an end to playing them at all. At least for the P5 members. Let G5's play them.

Does it matter? Not really. Call it whatever you want. There is P5 and then there is the rest.

Where did I say anything about this being MY argument? Just a simple discussion starter that's all.

:wtf:

You created the thread with those words. I questioned them. That is, I added to the discussion you started. I don't see the problem, nor where I even cared about how you came to use those words. :noidea:

Defensive much?

Yeah, I have nearly 40k posts just pissing into the wind at myself. :rolleyes2:

You didn't come back with anything about the content I added to your topic starter, only about it not being your argument. That by definition is kind of defensive. If you'd care to discuss the merits of my counterpoints then bring it on and we can do so.

I read your first sentence and saw you assuming things so I stopped reading. I'll go back and read it, but not at this particular time. Honestly wasn't expecting someone to discuss it with me so I'm excited to read what you said lol

At this point there have to be at least 20 schools that have moved up since the divisions were renamed to FCS and FBS. Idaho is the only one that has ever dropped in that time and they will be the only team to ever drop. No other school has a president ignorant enough or an AD incompetent enough to make this decision.

If anything there really needs to be 3 divisions in D1. FBS, G5 and top tier FCS, and bottom tier FCS. People forget that 3 conferences in FCS football either play with 0 scholarships or less than 20.

And then there's one FCS team who thought all their issues at the FBS level were due to the level of competition and not due to bad coaching hires, poor facilities, and inept administrators. Nope, it's just the level of competition. Drop down and it's easy winning! Fucking morons.

Sorry....getting off topic. I'm going to go drink myself to death now.

I like the idea of the FCS having it's own set of bowl games or a tournament or something. Make it worth while for the schools and student athletes. I'm not saying the "FCS Bowl Season" has to be like the FBS, because I think there are way too many bowl games in the FBS, but make it exciting.
