Not to mention that they’re still playing at the Coliseum, which is a dump, has no parking and is impossible to get to. The new stadium will still be hard to get to since it’s next to LAX (and Monday night games will be ridiculous), but they’ll see a nice spike in attendance when the new stadium opens.

Yep, I think they will. One thing they need to rethink in the NFL are these PSLs. I know several Falcon season ticket holders and one guy financed his PSL fee for 5 yrs, the other 2 wrote a check, but wouldn't say how much it was and I didn't ask. The PSL is a hurdle for a lot of people that are interested in buying a season tkt.

I've been to both, but in your opinion which is worse...The Coliseum or the Rose Bowl? It's been several years since I was out there, but the Rose Bowl seemed older.

They’ve done a ton of work on the Rose Bowl. Personally, I like it better but I also lived in Pasadena for 12 years, so I’m probably biased. It was a ton easier to get to the Rose Bowl and I always liked tailgating on the golf course.

The Chargers are in trouble there. The Rams seem to be gaining some traction and may be all right.

LA was never going to support two teams. It was stupid from the outset and I can't believe the owners approved it. 1 team might be ok there.

Not true at all, the atmosphere for the last game was great 75k fans. Place was hopping.

And they aren't all bandwagon fans.....a lot of them are fans from when they were here previously.

The winner and loser of the LA football race was over before it began and it had nothing to do with records. When the Rams said they were coming back, LA was excited. The fans were pumped and at that time, the Rams sucked. When the Chargers announced, you could hear a pin drop. No one cared. No one wanted them. People wanted the Raiders, but no one wanted the Chargers. They’re always going to be the second choice team in LA.
BOOM.

The league messed up with the chargers move, no doubt. The question at this point is, what do they do?

The Chargers aren't tied down financially with the new stadium so they could relocate elsewhere. San Antonio? Toronto? London?

San Antonio...they will never get a team as long as Jerrah or any of his kids own the Cowboys...they look at San Antonio/Austin as Cowboy country.

Toronto? maybe...they seem to be making the NBA work.

London...doubtful...as much as the owners would like to expand and capture some of that Euro market...logistics are just too difficult.

The city that can and will support them...SD...Spanos has passed on now...maybe the new ownership would be willing to accept the suburban stadium proposal that Spanos would not.

it really is a shame that they didn't stay in san diego ... san diego isn't the best sports town in the world but they supported the chargers decently.

There's no way there's more real fans in LA than there are from their years in St. Louis. LA isn't a sports town. But Hollywood loves a good bangwagon.

what about the old rams fans. they moved in what. 87 or so?

I still think the Jags are going to London, but their owner pulled out of his bid to buy Wembley Stadium this week. I think that had more to do with opposition to the stadium bid from the soccer interests there.

Chargers were just one of the worst teams they could've moved there.

There is no love lost between San Diego and LA but one of the biggest fanbases in LA are Raider fans and there is no chance they are going to support a division rival.

Raider fans can get behind the Rams because it's a separate conference and LA teams usually have a more sibling rivalry relationship than a deep bitter hatred for each other.

Chargers other problem is that they are very much a team with a very local fanbase. They have the south end of SoCal and that's pretty much it. It's not like Steeler or Cowboy fans where you can find them all across the nation.

The ultimate move for the Chargers would be to swallow their pride and see if they can work something out with San Diego to renovate and remodel Qualcomm or I guess it's SDCCU now and move back.

Anywhere else they go they are looking at decades of building up a fanbase and establishing themselves.

Sacramento would be better than LA. It is near Spanos home base. It is one of the fastest growing regions the United States and plenty of open land for a stadium. With the Raiders moving to LV, there is the potential to attract a new fanbase. Current Raider fans are not going to support the Chargers but the next generation will only associate the Raiders with Las Vegas. I think they could draw enough people now but there isn't enough deep pocket corporate sponsorship there yet.

It's amazing how everyone knew how stupid and shortsighted moving the Chargers was yet Spanos and the NFL did it anyway.

Basically sums up how the league runs.
