Series is definitely not over, going to be an intense game 5. Verlander is going to be the starter for the 'Stros but whoever starts for the Sox will need to get a quality start. The pen is spent.

That dumbass fan who reached over and interfered with Betts, wearing a Reagan/Bush hat. To a playoff game in 2018. What a clown.

The play could've gone either way. Did the Astros get screwed? Probably. Either way, Joe West would've gotten crucified. Doesn't change the fact that the Astros had plenty of chances to win the game. 3 for 12 with runners in scoring position, 13 LOB as a team. They had the bases loaded with 2 out and Bregman was at-bat.

I have no idea how they could not see that Mookie clearly went into the crowd, Astros got screwed. Makes me wonder if it's not our year but I have no idea if you can win a World Series with an ineffective closer. Man what a game.

There were some incredible defensive plays in that game last night on both sides. Reddick's catch in the top of the 9th was amazing. Bregman has been an absolute vacuum at 3rd all week.

But I would say that Betts' throw was the best defensive play of them all. While Kemp should never have taken that risk, I can also understand why he did. Because there may not be another right fielder in the game who could make that play.

To be clear, the issue is where the interference was initiated. No one can definitively say that it was initiated in the stands.

The interference had already occurred by this point.

Leather was huge in the game last night! Wow!!
IDK what to think about the interference call on Altuve's shot, I just watched it again and it seemed like Betts had not yet crossed the plane of the wall and the ball was headed into his glove....but, I am a Bosox fan, so that's what I want to see.
Too bad Sale had to be pushed back, Price vs Verlander doesn't sound great for the Sox. Can't they put a few stitches in Sale's stomach and maybe he could also dump some ketchup on himself and we would have a bloody jersey playoff game?

Betts reminds me off myself as a young ballplayer....dreaming about making leaping catches, firing laser throws, and bombing the ball deep into the stands as I washed my teammates' jocks in the sink.

The Red Sox outfield has to be one of the greatest defensive outfields I've ever seen. All 3 of them have great range and absolute rockets for arms.

The fact that Betts plays RF because JBJ is so good in the field is telling. Guess you could argue that it is like putting Ichiro or Clemente in RF to take advantage of the arm, but JBJ also throws quite well.
I think Benintendi does a nice job out there, but he is not comparable to the other two guys. Way better than Manny or Jason Bay!

i would have been more interested in asking him what the background behind wearing that hat is

I'm not looking at the hat... something in white has my attention

As I went to bed I asked myself if Manny would have made that catch. I crack myself up.

@flyerhawk I don't see how anyone can watch that play and not conclude Mookie's glove was over the wall and beyond it when the fan hit him, there was not a chance that fan reached out over the wall and into the field of play. The ball was falling right into the fan's lap when Mookie went up to get it.

Hey @Rex Racer what do you think of Joe West now? :)

Manny would have either been taking a leak up against the wall when the ball was hit or would have tripped so powerfully trying to dive for the ball that he would have flung himself into the net behind home plate.

Manny also would have managed to cut off Betts' throw to nail Kemp at 2b.

Sales will pitch game six if they can force some food into his body. He was admitted to the hospiutal and kept overnight on Sunday and hasn't been able to eat ad hold down any solid food. The guy is a stick as it is and he's lost almost 9 lbs. Word is that he's been eating baby food for the nutritional value and he's having difficulty keeping that down. This was as of 8:00 PM Wednesday night. News reports this morning have no updates.

Rumor is that David Price will go tonight. Notyhinglike putting tremendous series ending pressure on a pitcher who's never been able to pitch more than 5 innings in the post season.

Fate says Price throws a no-hitter through 8 tonight.

Heard that Bob Stanley was signed to a three day contract at 3:00 AM.
