We've both been around long enough to know when a team is really good or close to it. I can't say I've seen the Huskies enough this year to pass judgement but I've gone to every USC home game ( except the opener) and went to Texas to watch that farce and I can say this is the most undisciplined and poorly coached team we've had in a long time. We have arguably three of the most talented WRs any team could ask for in Vaughns, Pittman and Amon Ra and all we do is run a few times get in a 3rd and long then throw deep. The WRs are so good they make that work some. But I can't remember a 12-14 play drive this season and we never throw 10-15 yard passes in the middle of the field. It's like Tee hasn't gotten to the part of the book ( OC for dummies) where they teach you TE- slot middle of the field routs.
That's really saying something considering who the last two coaches were and why they had to be fired . . .

I know . Imagine Clay having to field a team under sanctions. lol. Now lets not confuse the person Clay is with the dimwits that were here right before him. I'm grateful for how he's righted the ship. I just think he's failed in a couple hires and he compounds the error by keeping them this long. And he's been too niceof a guy with these players to the point where they don't think it's a big deal to have a penalty against them.
As a ND fan I'm sure you've had the same issue during Brain Kellys time there? Didn't he have to get rid of some coordinators in the past seasons or it was him who was going to go?

What you are describing, the head coach being everyone's buddy, is more like a Gerry Faust or Bob Davie situation. Kelly is just an egotistical psychopath who believes he is above questioning.

I believe it. He's usually looking like he's gonna have a stroke on the game days...

So far in games with one team coming off a bye and the other not:
Cal lost to Oregon 42-24. Probably played better than expected, but outcome as expected.
Utah lost at WSU 28-24. Held WSU to their lowest point total of the year at their house. Utes were favored by 1 and lost the game late on a long 89y TD by the cougs.
USC won 31-20 on the road at Colorado. USC was favored by 7 but purely dominated that game with 21 points in the second quarter alone.
Oregon won 30-27 at home against UW. Slight home dog and won in overtime in a back and forth battle.

Colrado v UCLA and Stanford v ASU were games where both teams came off a bye.

We have Oregon at WSU who is coming off a bye, but also Oregon State coming off a bye hosting Cal.

I'm sure you all thought my point was going to be to talk about the coug game lol, but I've already hashed that out. Taking WSU to cover, but only with a 60% chance.

The question is can the beavs at least cover a 7.5 spread at home against a sputtering Cal team that has lost 3 straight including a 7 point loss to an Arizona team that only has other wins against the beavs and southern utah? Does the desperation of a 3 straight loss team help overcome the bye week advantage?

Still leaning toward Cal to cover. They should. But the bye week advantage is real and the beavs can score, they just haven't been able to stop the other team. They did hang 37 on the cougs, 24 on ASU, and 31 on the buckeyes. In Cal's league play so far they have given up 42 to the ducks, 24 to zona, and 37 to UCLA in Kelly's first win of the season.

Tough to handicap this one. Love to see the beavs win it, but not sure they can.

Pac-12 wheel of destiny spins to a conference title of Washington State vs Utah this week

This wheel will continue to spin because I very sure that won't happen

in fact I'd be more willing to bet none of the two make it vs both making it

Fun fact:
UCLA after tonight is 2-2 in conference and just a half game back in the South and hasn't played either team ahead of them yet.

The mediocrity of the whole conference has everything all fucked up.

3 teams all have 1 conf loss in the north and none have played each other yet

4 teams all have 2 losses in the south and UCLA is one of them. :pound:

LOL! It would be extremely funny yet fitting if UCLA somehow won the Pac-12

I really hope OD had an amazing time in Pullman, was fun as hell. I’m just glad I was drunk because I don’t remember the 3rd quarter and most of the 4th. So I’ll just pretend it was 34-10

Because we are ahead of you guys in tiebreakers and our only legit team we play is in the Apple Cup. Doesn’t mean we won’t lose like Leach normally does to inferior teams but the North now officially goes through us.
Which tiebreaker are you ahead in exactly? UW has one more conf win. That's a fact. They are alone in first place. That too is a fact. Same logic you used last year when the cougs took a later bye and had a half game lead with the same number of conf losses.

Stanford, WSU, and UW are in the same boat. All have 1 conf loss and all have yet to play each other. Oregon now is sitting back and hoping the 3 each trade losses so they are back in it again.
