One of the best owners in the NFL. He never tried to micromanage a team (see Jerry Jones). He was never arrested for driving impaired while possessing drugs (see Jim Irsay). He hired two coaches that got the Seahawks to three super bowls. Finally, he saved football in Seattle. This is so fucking sad.

It really is sad, hit me hard.. Last I heard his treatment was doing fine, the battle wasn't over, his body just shut down... He means a lot to this community, he did SO much ...

Listening to PC talk about Allen's passing this morning on his weekly spot with B&S got me thinking. Could this be the event that convinces him to move on from Seattle? This morning he talked at length about how it was Allen that was the main reason he decided to leave USC to come back to the NFL and how he bought into the vision that Allen was trying to build here. With a different owner, could some of that go away or change enough to make Pete think it's time call it good here and try one more gig -- maybe college again -- before he's done for good? I hope not, but I could see it.

IMO, this is Carroll's final stop as a head coach anywhere. He seems like the type of coach who likes to really build a program (as he would call it) from the ground up, and I can't imagine he'd want to start over anywhere (college or pro) as he's closing in on 70. Even at an energetic 70. By no means am I saying that PC was lying about his comments in regards to Allen, but he was probably over-emphasizing them as a sign of respect. I still think the ultimate reason he left USC was the sanctions coming down the line and the Seahawks were the best opportunity available.

Yeah, I probably agree with this more than what I said. PC won't be coaching here forever, so if there was any iffy-ness in his mind about how much longer he wanted to be here that maybe an event like Allen's passing could have pushed him to a decision to go as we are undoubtedly about to see some major changes at the top (saw a headline this morning that said his family is selling the Hawks & Blazers).

But listening to Pete yesterday morning, I also picked up just how enthusiastic and hopeful he is about this year's team and how invigorated he seemed to be with the way they have come together after those first 2 games. I suppose the year still could turn out to be a turd, but the team rolling the way it is right now is probably helping him remain invested about being here thru ownership change.

Yeah, and he has the QB. Very rarely do NFL jobs open up that have the QB position settled for years to come, like he has in Seattle.

Unless he has an itch to go back to college (which would shock me), I think it's his last coaching job. I could see him stepping down to go into a front office or something, but it seems as if he's got a real passion for being on the sideline and hands on with the team. Carroll as a FO only guy is hard to imagine.

I was hearing shes a major fan and interest was there, but appears rumors flying all over the place at the owners meeting that the team will probably end up under new ownership.

We'll see. Its very rare anything like this happens in the NFL with its quality franchises and the price tag will be unreal.

Someone on the radio yesterday (maybe the Groz) threw out $2.5B.

World class stadium is good to go for decades. Sellouts every game. Incredible merch sales. The water front Renton practice facility.

The value of the program couldnt be more high at this time. The price tag for it is going to be astronomical if the whole thing is put up for sale. Its a once in a lifetime oppurtunity for any buyer. The question is: who or what parties exactly has the $$$ to buy them.

I wondered about him as well. I don't think he is very hands off though.
I also wonder if Mr Allen already has something in place. I wouldn't be surprised.

i was on Allen's Boat, the Octopus. Had to do some electrical stuff on it. Nice boat and i got to see the whole thing. so many floors haha. It also had this massive like garage in it that you could put a huge Boat inside, i don't mean just a speed boat but another yacht.

Omg haha that reminded me, when i was there they had these guys loading up Old TV's and pulling them off the yacht. They ended up dropping a cart of them into the water lol oof!

The heli pad on the back you could play a football game on with friends. not kidding.

Cuban knows his basketball but not sure how much football knowledge he has so he could be a hands off type owner but he could get the crowd pumped. I wished he bought the Mariners.

Until about a week ago, Cuban was an impossibility because he owned a sports franchise in a different market, but the NFL just did away with that rule.

I think the biggest reason that's interesting is it puts Steve Ballmer on the table as a possibility (no idea if he'd do it or if that would be a good idea).

Seahawks will wear patches to honor Paul Allen’s memory

The Seahawks will wear patches honoring the memory of team owner Paul G. Allen the rest of the season. Allen died last week from complications of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

The patch features Allen’s initials and a 12 flag, with the CenturyLink Field arches in the background.

Anyone know if you can order those patches online? I'd love to have one especially if part of the proceeds go to some sort of cancer research charity.
