Smith's completion percentage has been 60% against GB and less than that in the last two games. He YPA vs. Carolina was 4.53 which is very low. Agree that he looks shaky in the pocket. He did spread the ball around to 8 different receivers. I think it seems apparent he needs the D and the running game to be working. Skins still had to kick 4 FGs yesterday. It looks a lot like his year last year which was not his norm was an outlier.

Since I have not read anywhere as of yet, I'm going to say it. Leaving out most of the narrative before hand but here it goes.
Alex Smith is holding the offense back right now. Feet are way too happy for a vet, missing open receivers 10-15 yards down field, releasing the pass way too late in some cases to open receivers, not willing to tuck and run more often when the pocket collapses. It is ALL not on Smith as his protection has been often poor but he doesn't seem to be processing information fast enough or he cannot due to his limited protection time but something about the offense is not right and it starts with Smith. Another game of indecision and it may be Colt time. I'm growing impatient with Smith right now and between him and Gruden, they must get this figured out quickly.

You can’t say that. You are just a hater...blah, blah, blah. I just thought I would put it out there first. BTW, our offense is so boring.

I unfortunately agree. Smith is holding the offense back right now. Not only does he have happy feet, but he is not completing his drops. He, with regularity, stops at 3 steps when the patterns run by his receivers requires a longer drop (5 and 7 step). This makes his pass protection scheme less effective because he is not where he is supposed to be.
There is no excuse for a vet to be doing this. It happens with rookies all the time.

I agree. The happy feet and the off target passing have never been an issue with Smith before have they? The throwing too late to WRs thing I kinda think stems from being too cautious, at least some of it.

Heh. My youngest knothead, she's almost as big a Skins fan as am I, was saying the same thing too me in skype. She was a big Cousins fan as well, bigger than I was, and she thinks Cuz would have this team at 5-0 and hitting on all cylinders.

Redskins stock up-stock down vs. Panthers

classic CDC game 163 yds passing , if he does that next week we lose period

the ABC crowd was wrong about CDC 's last season meaning he will do more . it is clear so far it was a fluke and he goes back to his check down ways

Sigh. No doubt. Instead of blooming into Rich Gannon part deux. He's turning into an older, EVEN scarier version of himself. Looks like the 'WRs are garbage' talk has quelled a bit. I think even the pro-Alex peeps are realizing its not the WRs.

Our leading pass catcher is Chris Thompson with 26 rec. That's with him missing Sunday's game. His 200 rec ydc rank 3rd on the team by total rec yards, but his averaging 50 rec yards per game is leading the team. Our leading WR far as catches is Paul Richardson with 16 catches.......after 5 games........in this pass happy era of football.

Alex Smith has yet to crack 300 yards passing in a game this season. This is some Woody Hayes 3 yards n a cloud of dust bullshit.

Could you imagine what this season so far would have looked like without Petersen? If we were having to rely on Smith (like we did Cousins the last few years) to be our offensive production, we would be winless right now.

Heh. I have imagined a season w/o AP as well as a season with Guise. I'd like to ask anyone who's seen Guise play on the regular. How do you think he would be faring about now? Is Guise a complete RB, run/catch/block?

You are so quick to bash this team. Its just amazing. We are 3-2. Considering the teams we played this is exactly where I had us for a record at this time. Packers and Panthers are two potential playoff teams. We beat them. This team is exactly where it should be.

Now for Smith, is he playing great? No. Is he playing bad? No. KC was the same way being up and down and not finishing drives. Forget the stats. Wins are the only thing that matters. Of course Smith needs to play better but to say we can't win with this guy and think he is the next John Beck is crazy. Plus the oline did not have a good pass protecting day yesterday that should also be taken into effect. Even Trent Williams had some huge mistakes. Yes, Smith was step it up but so does the oline. The Lavou loss is hurting us right now.

Every Redskins fan should be excited right now.

KC was way better , not even close and this crap you are spreading is nothing like you tried to sell us

with KC we are are 4 wins .

didnt say he was beck but he certainly isnt the savior i was told he was . in fact he is CDC like the other decade he was before and we made a huge trade for a lateral transfer

hell colt mccoy could get us 3-2

What did you expect Smith to do against a good Carolina D with no CT or JC? You are being unreasonable to think we would of dropped 30 points on the Panthers. I said Smith wont throw the late game int like KC to lose the game for us. I said Smith gives us just as good of chance or even better than KC can to win. Kc always had slow starts to the season. Sorry McCoy doesn't beat the Panthers and Packers.

You still want to point the Colts loss at Smith when the defense gave up three huge drives to the Colts for Td's. Both sides of the ball were bad that game. Im not saying Smith is playing great right now but we can win with him and you cant deny that.

Plus you cant compare KC b/c he wasn't coming back after the 2017 season. We were in big trouble at QB and Smith was the best option out there AT THAT TIME.

Didn’t read all the posts but As usual it’s 90% negative after a win.

23 points scored without Thompson and Crowder is good enough for me. Hell I wouldn’t care if they won 3-0.
First place after week 6 and the bitching never stops :L

23 points but look at the field position.

Carolina 22...TD
Wash 36...TD...good drive
Wash 33...FG
Car 33...no points

The defense forced three turnovers...we better score 23points.

This team is exactly where it should be.

So you had this team beating both the Packers and Panthers eh.

Now for Smith, is he playing great? No. Is he playing bad? No. KC was the same way being up and down and not finishing drives. Forget the stats. Wins are the only thing that matters. There's reason to be positive about. The defense has improved, we run the ball well and ST has been sharp. Far as our passing game goes. Its reverted to basic high school shit with Smith. And I don't care what Jay says about trusting Smith. You don't call running plays being down 40-13 in the 3rd quarter lkike Gruden did if you trust your QB.

It hasn't just been Carolina's defense. We've scored 21 points total, 5 FGs and 1 TD in the 2nd half of 5 games. What excites you about that?

Far as KC's slow starts. He's completing over 71% of his passes has over 1900 yards passing and 12 TDs. I've always bemoaned Kirk not throwing enough TDs in a season. Well he's on pace to throw 32 TD passes whereas Alex isn't even gonna crack 20 passing TDs at his present rate.

Smith didn't do any hellified shit in either the GB or Carolina game. McCoy can throw for 163 yards and average 4.5 yards per pass. Or complete 12/20 for 220 yards 2 TDs and 1 INT. That ain't shit.
