But that's the thing, on a team like the Ws Boogie doesn't have to be the same player to be what they need. He might be but even if not he doesn't have to be the best, or second best, or even third best player on the team.

When they signed him it was a total shock but it's become clear how perfect of a fit he is for the team and them for him. It's kind of obvious really. If KD splits after this year I could see them re-signing him.

Media has done a really good job talking up teams like the Celtics and Rockets to promote the upcoming season.

But, the reality is barring a major trade, nobody comes close to touching a healthy Warrior squad. When Boogie was signed, the narrative was season over. For a couple weeks anyway.

62.5 is easy money. Take the over. This is an all time great team. Maybe the greatest ever. Not hard at all to win 60 for them, even in the brutal west.

They are more likely to win 70+ then fewer than 60.

The biggest concern with the over is how seriously the Warriors take the regular season.

True.

And I don't think they have to take it very seriously to win 63.

If you remember last season, there were times when the Warriors were essentially playing a G league team.

I wouldn't be surprised if Curry and KD both only get 65 games in during the regular season.

Yeah I don't think the Warriors care much about the regular season so I doubt they push 70 wins. IMO, I think they're between 57-63 wins.

They didn't take it seriously last year and ended up with only 58 wins. Have to also consider the injuries to important players that are likely to happen as well.

My 5:

Celtics over 59: Class of a weak East. Talented team, will hit 60 wins at least
Raptors under 55.5: Will be interesting to see how they do with Leonard
Lakers Over 48: Adding James will be huge for the team. I think they add another good talent during the season.
Timberwolves under 45: I think Butler gets traded by Christmas. The rest of the team will under perform.
Hornets over 35.5: I think if Walker stays all season you'll see them above .500.

They had an unreal amount of injuries to stars though. And they all seemed to happen at the same time. That is unlikely to repeat itself.

But yes. If they are complacent and have a ton of injuries they will go under. But you are betting on both things to happen to hit that mark. Because this team is a lot better than 62 wins.

I just don't think they value the regular season anymore once they broke the win total a few years ago. I agree that those injuries may not repeat but i can't see this team going hard to get 70 wins or so.

Probably not.

All I said is that 70 is more likely than under 60.

62.5 is too low for this team. Should be 66.5.

OVER Oklahoma City Thunder: 48.5 - Combination of knowing PG13 is there for good and simplification of Melo leaving will help them live up to their potential much better than last year.

OVER Milwaukee Bucks: 47.5 - Replacing Kidd/Prunty with Budenholzer and Jabari with Ilyasova, along with the progression of Giannis and Brogdon, will make a big difference.

OVER Phoenix Suns: 29 - PHX had a great off-season, not only addin young talent, but also bringing in some veteran leadership to help them be competitive. I think they finish in the 30s.

UNDER San Antonio Spurs: 45 - I should know better than to doubt the Spurs but I have a sneaking suspicion that a tanking is brewing in SA. Don't forget that popovich was the mastermind behind the tank for Duncan. And just like that season, the injuries are starting to pile up.

UNDER New Orleans Pelicans: 46 - Just don't think they have the depth to come out on the better side of 500 in a crowded western conference. It took some unlikely late winning streaks last year to hit 48. They could do well if they created a defensive identity, but I just don't see Gentry as the right coach to make that happen.

Yeah, a couple of years ago, they pushed hard to get to that 73 win mark and then lost in the finals. I think they learned from that and are far more interested in getting to the playoffs rested and healthy than they are in seeding.

I agree with all this, I think they win under 62.5 but win 61 or 62

Here are the from action network..

Golden State Warriors: 62.5 | Boston Celtics: 59 | Houston Rockets: 56
Toronto Raptors: 55.5 | Philadelphia 76ers: 54.5 Utah Jazz: 49.5
Oklahoma City Thunder: 48.5 | Indiana Pacers: 48 | Los Angeles Lakers: 48

Denver Nuggets: 47.5 | Milwaukee Bucks: 47.5 | New Orleans Pelicans: 46
Minnesota Timberwolves: 45 | San Antonio Spurs: 45 | Washington Wizards: 44.5 | Portland Trail Blazers: 42 | Miami Heat: 41.5 | Detroit Pistons: 38

Los Angeles Clippers: 36.5 | Charlotte Hornets: 35.5 | Dallas Mavericks: 34.5
Memphis Grizzlies: 33 | Brooklyn Nets: 32 | Orlando Magic: 31
Cleveland Cavaliers: 30.5 | Chicago Bulls: 30 | Phoenix Suns: 29
New York Knicks: 28.5 | Sacramento Kings: 25.5 | Atlanta Hawks: 24

Which ones do you like? Pick 5 and explain your reasoning.

Under on the Timberwolves. I think the Butler thing is going to blow up and he'll be gone sooner than later or be a locker room cancer.

Under on the Cavs. They're going to be a train wreck and then do their best to tank towards the end.

I would go over on the Knicks, under the assumption they'll win just enough to drop out of a top 3 or 4 pick but I don't bet against my own team and I'm not sure when K.P. will be back if at all this year.

Over on the Spurs. They're too good of a franchise and will pull a few games out of their asses to get them to 46 wins.

Lakers 48 is VERY interesting for so many reasons.

Mainly- it will take 47 wins to make the playoffs i think.

If you remember, LeBron sat out almost 3 weeks his first year in Cleveland with back troubles and it led to them being under .500 at one point in January. If LeBron plays less than 70 games the Lakers will NOT make the playoffs.

Heat - Over. If the roster gets healthy, I love their depth which will help them during the mid-season grind. I feel like they're a solid over.

Grizzlies - Over. A healthy Conley is going to help them immensely. I think adding a savy player like Kyle Anderson will help them too. We'll see how much Jackson produces for them, but I like his upside. Last year being a down year helped a lot of their young players develop which I think will carry over to this season. Think they'll play surprisingly well for stretches.

Spurs - Under. I had thought they were going to be a team that surprised people, but the injury to Dejounte Murray is a huge set back.

Phoenix - Over. Will have a really solid season from Ayton. Booker comes back and helps form that nice 1-2 punch. Lots of young talent that will win some games.

Raptors - Over. I think they have a real shot to win close to 60 games this year. Solid, deep team.

So if lebron misses just over 14% of the entire regular season the Lakers will choke?

Lol.

Not a crazy prediction at all.

12 games missed likely amounts to about a 4 game difference in the standings. As close as the West is likely to be, yeah, that very likely could mean the Lakers are on the outside looking in.
