Let me first just say I don't think this will actually happen. But I thought it was interesting. I saw a post with a fairly realistic scenario that could land 3 SEC teams in the playoffs.

Here's what needs to happen:

1) 2 of Ohio State, Clemson and Notre Dame need to lose at least 1 game. Very realistic.
2) Georgia, Florida or Kentucky need to win-out through the regular-season. Very realistic that one of them will do that.
3) LSU needs to beat Alabama. Not likely, but definitely possible.
4) SEC East champ needs to beat LSU in SEC Title Game. Realistic if it's Georgia or Florida.

Then Georgia/Florida/Kentucky would be a 1-loss SEC Champ. Would definitely make the playoffs. Alabama would be 1-loss just like last year...would probably make it. And LSU would have 2-losses but they'd have beaten Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Auburn, Texas A&M, Mississippi State. Definitely possible it could get in over a 1-loss OSU, Clemson or Notre Dame.

I think in this scenario the committee probably wouldn't put in Alabama AND LSU, but it's not impossible.

What do y'all think about this scenario? I know everyone outside of the SEC would surely hate it.

So you think the committee will take a two loss non-conference champ LSU over a one loss conference champ OSU and Clemson, and a one loss Notre Dame? You are also ignoring the possibility of a one loss Oklahoma/Texas.

There will need to be 6 more weeks like last Saturday for any conference to get three teams in the playoffs.

Did you only read part of my post? I clearly said I DID NOT think it would happen, just thought it was an interesting fairly realistic scenario. I do think it would be possible though, based off of all the teams LSU would have beaten.

There is a 90% chance the playoff voters don't even know Kentucky fields a football team.

If the SEC can't sort it out, why the fuck are we suppose to.

Personally, I do hope one conference does get three teams in. Don't care if it is the SEC or some other conference.

The impetus for the playoff was the LSU-Bama mulligan game.

There is no way 3 teams in the same conference EVER makes the playoffs.

Uhh...what?

Miami and Auburn are currently unranked and both likely have at least another loss or two on their schedule.
A&M and Miss State are also both going to wind up with no fewer than 3 losses, if not 4 or more.
That means LSU will have lost two of their three toughest games. So, no, not even a remote possibility.

In this scenario they would have beaten Alabama and Georgia. So no, they would not have lost two of their three toughest games. And does that mean you think Miami and Auburn will end up unranked and/or are bad teams? And does that mean you think A&M and Mississippi State are bad teams? 9-3 or 8-4 are decent records, especially if they're your 4th/5th-ish best wins of the season.

A lot more likely that team sec gets one team in as opposed to three.
