I usually use ----- to make sure each of the numbers line up in columns (as closely as possible). I don't post as many stats as I used to - people just don't like taking the time to read them, and the hoop isn't really formatted to show them.

Oh i love stat lines and with the right ones they can really give you a picture of how things are.

i do that a lot of times...but the main idea i was trying to get across...was where they were doing good ..and not
so i was just going for the number...really..this time

Stats or not, the eye test overrules all that stuff. It is easy to see the improvement this year.

Seattle's D has actually been playing pretty well, but outside of the Rams they haven't faced much competition. Going to be some major challenges in coming weeks with the Chiefs, @ Rams, Chargers, and Packers...

i think all the turnovers they are forcing has also really helped how the defense looks. Lets hope they keep coming all season long. When i think of the most common trait of a Seahawks Defense i think of the ability to cause TO's. In the 80's they were also one of the best teams at doing that. Sure they were not always the best defensive team but boy they could create those turn overs in bunches. In 1998 they lead the league in TD's scored by the defense on TO (10) . It's just something ( the TO ) i always equate to a Hawks D. I think that defensive TD record still stands today.

Weird, wouldn't have guessed that year for a Hawks team for that kind of record. Didn't look it up, but I would have said 1984 for something like that...the 4 pick-6s in that 1 game vs KC gives you a good jump on 10 defensive TDs. 98 had to have been Dennis Erickson's last year here, and the team wasn't that good but did have some quality players on D so maybe....but '84 still would be my bet.

Yep, pretty amazing and surprising. If I listed out the best defenses in team history, '98 wouldn't enter the picture.

they were not bad, not 2012-2017 ( 2018 maybe? ) good but not many EVER have been. I just remember how they would talk about the Hawks Defense pretty much through all of the 80's and how they could cause turnovers with the best of them. I remember one game in 1984 when they were playing Denver and the announcers ( prime time game ) talked about if any team can force a turn over right now it's the Seahawks and they did like 1 to 2 minutes later keeping Denver from scoring from like the 3 yard line. I think in 1984 they created something like 60+ Turnovers. that seems wrong, i might have to go try and find some info on that. That seems really high but thats what my brain is telling me.

Yeah, the '84 team stands out like few others. I would have liked to have seen what that team could have done in the playoffs if Curt Warner hadn't been lost for the season in game 1.

ok it was 63, wow can you imagine a team causing 63 turnovers in a season? Thats averaging like 4 a game for a full season! Makes me wonder how many fumbles they caused that they didn't recover? or INT's that they bricked that should have been caught.

NFL Records

ok that 98 team was 10th in offense and 10th in defense. top 10 in both! yeah crazy they were not better than 8-8, we all remember the following year. The team was 8-2 and just a beast on the field then Joey Galloway came back from his hold out and they went on to post a 1-5 record in the last 6 games destroying what started out as a unbelievable season.

this really showed me what a cancer type player could do to a good team.
