It is officially 1 week til the 2018-19 NBA Season starts for the Hornets. The biggest changes are not on the court, but in the front office. Mitch Kupchak, former GM of the Los Angeles Lakers, is now the GM for the Charlotte Hornets. While Steve Clifford was fired as head coach, James Borrego, assistant coach from the San Antonio Spurs since 2015, was hired as the new head coach of the Charlotte Hornets. Lets look at the roster transactions in the offseason.

2018 Draft:

Miles Bridges, who seems like the real deal from his offseason play, was the draft pick in the first round for the Hornets. We also drafted Devonte' Graham from Kansas. The Hornets originally had the 11th pick in the draft, which was then traded to the Clippers for the 12th pick and 2 future draft picks. The Hornets then traded for the 34th pick and traded away 2 future draft picks of their own.

Roughly 2 weeks later, the Hornets then traded Dwight Howard to the Brooklyn Nets for Timofey Mozgov, a 2021 draft pick and cash.

The next day, the Hornets were part of a 3-team deal with the Bulls and the Magic. The Hornets sent Timofey Mozgov to Orlando and Julyan Stone to Chicago while the Hornets received Bismack Biyombo, a 2019 and a 2020 draft pick from Orlando.

The Hornets then signed veteran PG Tony Parker.

The first regular season game is next Wednesday, when they host the Milwaukee Bucks.

Game 1: 0-1

Valiant effort by the Hornets. I think Malik Monk proved why he should be starting over Batum. Can't be upset with they way the Hornets played in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters. The comeback was amazing, Kemba was practically flawless, dropping 41. Lots of bright spots out their on the court last night.

Hornets are now 2-1 with wins over the Magic and Heat. This week, we visit Toronto and Chicago before we host Chicago and travel to Philly. We should be able to split these games this week and end the week at 4-3. I believe anything other than a 2-2 week would be a disappointment.

Record: 3-4
Division Standings: 2nd
Conference Standings: 8th

Highs:
Came back from a opening night loss to win 2 straight against the Heat and Magic. We've lost to decent teams but I'm happy to see how competitive we were against the 76ers. Kemba is just on fire. Showing the type of player he actually is and the reason why this team NEEDS Kemba. Jeremy Lamb has stepped up as well. 11 points per game in 25 minutes per game. Only a half game behind Miami for the division lead. It's still early, but I'm happy with the way they've been playing thus far.

Lows:
We lost to the Bulls by 12. That was an embarrassment. Chicago is 2-5 and we are one of those 2. I think we need some youth in the starting lineup. Kemba, Lamb, Monk, Bridges, Zeller would be my ideal starting 5. I have hope for this season, however, this is typical Hornets basketball. Can't go on any sort of long winning streak that this team desperately needs.

Well, another frustrating season. We can't get more than 1 game over .500. Currently, we are 18-19, 7th seed in the East as of right now, 1 game behind Miami for the division lead.
