Like I said, if the SEC doesn't have the man testicles to play their own conference members then that's their thing. I look at the SEC as a pseudo conference ... like the 14 member ACC. They call themselves a conference but its not a real conference. Real conferences actually play their own conference members.

Yet the SEC and ACC win natties. The other conferences have combined for one natty since 2006, and even that one exception, OSU played an 8 game conference schedule that year.

I'd rather not follow the loser conferences.

I don't consider the SEC and ACC real conferences. Real conferences actually have the man testicles to play their own conference members.

A true loser's mentality.

Would rather play more conference games than play for natties.

Coincidentally, after playing the PAC the last couple of years, I don't consider it a real conference either.

Seemed to work out fine with 3 of the 4 playoff teams last season playing for conferences that have 8 conference games.

Seems to me there's a correlation between an 8 game conference schedule and natties.

You hit the nail on the head with that last statement. The advantage the SEC and ACC have playing an extra ooc game usually against an inferior opponent. More credit to both conferences for taking advantage of that. That’s what all the P5 conferences need to do to give themselves more of a chance.

Texas A&M was the poster child of scheduling patsies for years.

Is this a sarcasm thread??

The SEC basically yelled at them to get their act together and start scheduling someone/anyone.

They did not schedule a single Power 5 team their first 3 years in the SEC with 4 OOC slots instead of 3.

7 seasons in the SEC (28 possible slots)

They scheduled:
Arizona State, UCLA, and Clemson (home games)
UCLA (road)

The SEC didn't yell at anyone. A&M lost a lot of the power teams they had scheduled when they made the move to the SEC. All that was open those first few years in the SEC were the patsies. A&M started to schedule power teams in the future...which is now.

Once again, current and future scheduling. Please read the OP next time.

Print it on a flier and hang it in the collegiate section at Walmart if you want Texas fans to see it.

We've tried scheduling the #1 team, but somehow there always seem to be a scheduling conflict....something about the space time continuum.

Half the in the SEC have scheduled Clemson in the last 10 years. AtM just caught them at the top.

All of the teams in the SEC West will have to play at least 2 top 10 teams and half of them(those not in the top 10) will have to play 3.

Auburn is currently slated to play the current #1, #2 and #5 teams and then already beat the then #6 team.

The easiest way I know to have a better schedule is to not play in a shitty conference.

Alabama, Ohio State, and Oklahoma are the last schools that should be called out for quality OOC scheduling.

I'm talking about this year and the future. Their division schedule is already tough as it is with Alabama, Auburn, LSU and Mississippi State. They play Georgia next year so next year, they play Clemson AND Georgia and possibly Alabama as well. The top 3 teams in the country right now. Feel bad for them but also respect them for their current and future scheduling and not taking Alabama way out by only scheduling lowly P5 or FCS teams.

Alabama's OOC schedule for the next few years:

2019 - Duke, Southern Miss, New Mexico State
2020 - Georgia State, Kent State, USC
2021 - Mercer, Miami, Southern MIss
2022 - Texas, Utah State
2023 - Texas, Central Michigan, Western Kentucky

Not to mention, they've only scheduled Georgia once in the next 7 years, which is 2020.

You do realize we don't set our conference schedules? We have to play every team in the West every year, we play UT in the East every year because it's a rivalry, and then our last conference game is moved between the rest of East.

Let's not forget also that we've played from major programs in the past few years, and only have some stinkers this year with Louisville, and next year with Duke.

I hate our game(s) got cancelled. I was rather looking forward to playing you all again as I believe it was set to be a home and home?

If I could control what Alabama does, and didn't care much about revenue, I'd schedule a home and home with ND, Michigan, OSU, USC, Texas, Oklahoma, or another school of that nature. I'd also add in Samford or another weak opponent to that we get the 'extra' bye week that it would essentially give us, and then I would schedule us against Georgia Tech. Alabama vs GT used to be a rivalry, back when Bear and Bobby Dodd absolutely hated one another, and I would start that back up again.

It was originally set up as a home and home. Bama then demanded that the games be switched to neutral site games. When MSU refused to give up their home game, Bama canceled the game citing “uncertainty in the SEC conference scheduling” a year after the SEC voted 13-1 to keep an 8 game scheduling. Alabama then immediately went out shopping for neutral site opponents and landed USC and FSU.

MSU would have got pounded both years as evidenced by the shellacking that Bama put on us in the playoffs in 2015, but it’s not like USC or FSU put up much of a fight either.

Yes I know Bama was the one vote for a 9 game schedule but it is irrelevant who the vote was.

True, but I have stated that I would love to see us head up your way in December and see how we fare. I hate neutral site games, but they do provide a lot more $$$ which I guess is the point of it all.

Oh I get it, I was giving you the history of what transpired because it seemed like you were unsure based on the first paragraph. Selfishly I wanted to see the games as well, but nationally and for college football it was much more important for Bama to play USC and FSU, especially looking at the shit show that MSU was in 2016.

I was a little unsure on the details, so I appreciate that aspect.

Still though, I want to come up to your place in the dead of winter and see how we fare.

If you're gonna be an independant and expect P5 treatment, you'd better be like Notre Dame and schedule like a P5 team

You mean load up on Ball State, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, and Navy?

Yeah, that should get lotsa respect

I’d like to see at least 1 more P5 OOC matchup against a worthy opponent.

Maybe a in-State rivalry game that we could play on Thanksgiving instead of LSU.

A former SWC foe would really bring in some national attention and get good ratings

Which game would be the most interesting match up, Texas Tech, TCU, or Baylol?

Tech vs A&M was a good rivalry, i'd go with that one.

Who are we going to play...there are no Big 10 teams playing outdoors in December, let alone the dead of winter.

It would have to be a bowl game and Bama would have to fall on hard times to play an outdoors game in the north. The B1G doesn’t even want to play in that up here.
