Question......

How many times on a two year contract can someone get hurt before you just cut ties.

I mean, I like Neuvy, but damn. Enough is enough with this brittle bitch thing.

It's gonna be Elliott, Stolarz then Hart. If those three stay healthy we may be good for the year.

With Lyon in there too when he gets back. I think that was essentially the reason they could stick with Neuvy. They knew coming in to this season they'd have 5 goalies that they felt could start an NHL game if they needed to. Maybe only 2-3 that could go long term, but that's a pretty crazy position to be in at goaltender. Of course, none of them could be classified as great :L. Not yet anyway ;)

I've come around on the mascot. First impression was it was just a weird looking blob. But I like the personality they seem to have given it.

Looks to me like that's most of the opening night roster. I would say Corban Knight has the inside track at 4C at this point. Vorobyev has the inside track to 3C.

Just missing the 3rd line wingers (Lindblom/Simmonds) and Couturier up front. Since Couturier is hurt, give Vorobyev an opportunity with the top line and rest the wingers for his line. Then give the '5th line' a final audition. 5th line being Aube-Kuble-Lehtera-Weise. Weal not playing is pretty glaring to me.

I think it's a given that Aube-Kubel will get sent down, not having clearly secured a top 12 spot and still being waiver exempt. Will definitely be interesting to see what they do with Knight, Weal, Lehtera and Weise. At least one will have to be waived or traded. I could see Weal having mid-to-late round draft pick value, and would likely be claimed if waived. Knight might get claimed but probably has little trade value. Lehtera and Weise would go unclaimed and have little to no trade value. Of course, I don't completely rule out Vorobiev being sent down although that would be a crime.

My exact thoughts as well. The same group that created the Phanatic created this guy, and they learned that the key to success was pushing the personality boundaries a bit...

Forgot about Leier. I assume he's a goner at this point.

Yep, agreed. If they waive Weal i'll be pretty irritated. I agree 100% that he'd get claimed. Might be able to get a mid-round pick for him, but why? Why not keep him as the 13th forward. For years the Flyers have had some 4th line plug as their 13th and 14th forwards. It'd be kind of nice to have Weal to plug in if a talented player goes down instead of moving Raffl up and plugging some scrub in on the 4th line (see Lehtera, Jori).

I honestly see no rational reason to keep Weise on the team. He had a nice shot last night, but the rest of his game was pitiful.

Assuming Giroux, Coots, Konency, JvR, Patrick, Voracek, Lindblom, Vorobyev, Simmonds make up the top 9 (pretty safe at this point I think), I would rank the rest as follows:

1. Weal
2. Raffl

3. Laughton
4. Knight
5. Leier
6. Lehtera
7. Aube-Kubel
8. Weise

Assuming you have room for 5 of them tops (4th line + 2 scratches), one cut has to be Weise. I'm fine passing over Weal for the starting lineup if you're trying to get some roles in the 4th line. Weal's not going to PK, and they need someone other than Couturier PK'ing. But there's no way you can justify not waiving Weise IMO. Lehtera is right on the bubble there too. I'd rather waive Lehtera to keep Leier (who I also think could get claimed).

He is made of glass. He may shatter if he ever has to stop a Ovi one timer.

After this season we will only have three Stolarz Hart and Lyon. Hopefully none of them are injury prone and we go about our daily business of winning the cup.

The only reason I think they might consider keeping Weise is because he's signed for next season, too. Not that I don't agree with you. Hextall's M.O. also seems to be a preference for C's over W's, so my guess for the final 5 are:

1. Laughton
2. Raffl
3. Knight
4. Weal
5. Lehtera

Not sure how good Knight is on the PK, but I believe he's a 50%+ faceoff guy at least. Weal and Lehtera in the press box at least give you options in terms of being able to play all 3 forward positions and the ability to add speed (Weal) or size (Lehtera) if needed.

I excluded Lyons because I didn't know his situation or a timetable for a return, but it'll help if he can get healthy quickly.
