Maybe not.

My main point was that the Cavs should not ever be compared to the Bulls or the Kobe/Shaq Lakers. They weren't on that level. Maybe in a parallel world without the Warriors existing, but not in this world.

I think you're making too much of a deal about the comparison. I wasn't comparing them as far as the level of team.

The 90's Bulls and Shaq/Kobe Lakers are in the conversation of greatest teams of all time, the Cavs aren't.

My only comparison was re: ego's breaking up championship teams, which is what happened with all 3 of those teams.

Kyrie left because he wanted out. PG was never really a consideration.

I mean, why don't you just say "Tell me a better situation than playing with KD and Steph with support players like Korver, Thompson, Osman, etc."?

Ya know, while you're talking about scenarios that weren't going to happen.
I mean- last summer Paul George and Kyrie and LeBron were all going to be on the same team if the Cavs lifted certain protection on the picks going to the Pacers.

While I totally agree with you that problems with Kyrie were bubbling to the surface, i think that those problems could have been ameliorated if Kyrie felt like LeBron's partner and not like LeBron's serf, but, like you said the other day- Kyrie is definitely not without blame.

The fact is that in July of last year the Cavs went to LeBron and said- "We can get Paul George- but they want no protections on the picks- we will do the deal without any protection- but we cant do it if you dont commit"--- if LeBron right there said--- "Hell ya- ill commit to playing with Kyrie and George"- the rest would be history.

This is all well and good, but Kyrie said he wanted out AFTER the 2016 Championship. Nothing was going to change his mind and there was NO WAY he was staying with Lebron. Point blank.

Kyrie Irving considered requesting a trade after Cavs 2016 title

So your situation of the three of them was never plausible. So at best you'd have a combination of Lebron and PG or Lebron and Love and neither is going to get it done.

Again, why should Lebron tell the team what he's going to do? He's under no obligation to do so, especially with the way he's been treated by your organization. Why would he commit to an organization that he doesn't actually love. He loves the City, not the Cavs. He loves the fans, who apparently don't love him back, lol.

That's not surprising to me. Neither Westbrook nor Schroeder are good off the ball or shooting. They don't exactly pair well in a back court.

Not on that level?

2015 and 2016 Cavs

They are the #1 offense rated team in NBA history at 118.1...and a defensive rating of 108...The bulls for comparison had an offensive rating of 105 and a defensive rating of 98 with Jordan.

The Cavs Beat the only 73 win team who ranked higher than any of those bulls or lakers teams pretty much across the board.

They were on that level. In fact you can make a pretty good case they were well above it. The GS warriors just happen to be the best team in NBA history, the 2016 Cavs

The 2016 Cavs were a great team, nice to see them get a title. Not sure I'd call them an all time great team though.

They were a good team dont get me wrong, but great?!?

If Draymond Green wasn't suspended the series would have been over in 5 or 6 and the Cavs wouldn't be any more than a side note in history.

How many times did Magic/Kareem, Jordan or Shaq/Kobe have to rely on a player getting injured or suspended to win a series?

That is the difference!

If you actually believed that, why would you want this bet so bad?

Stop trying to goad people into bets they don't want to do. The man said no.

All of this is accurate.

You would have had George. But, LeBron likely knew he was relocating.

I don't know if that trade would have been a balm for Kyrie or exacerbated the situation further.

But, a LeBron commitment would have gotten the deal done.

and while kyrie has to shoulder some blame, while Dan Gilbert has to shoulder some blame--- so does LeBron- becuase no one can tell me that there is a better basketball situation out there for LeBron than playing in the East with Kyrie, George and support guys like TT, Korver, Cedi, JR, etc.
