Just got home from the game at 8:10. We left at 5:30 in the dark and came home in the dark. It rained all day but one of the guys brought a canopy that ten of us could stay out of the rain. Up in section 220, the roof overhang kept us dry, fortunately. We had seasoned hamburgers, hot dogs and marinated beef brisket tailgating. We parked behind the Wells Fargo Center near route 95, which runs right past the stadium. The Linc was packed, even with the rain people were in the standing room only section. Probably one of the best games I have seen there since I have been going. Things have to be addressed of course and Wentz made a few mistakes but not too bad for his first game back. The whole place went crazy when Luck was sacked on that last fourth and goal with less than two minutes remaining. Had they scored, it would have made it 23 to 20, Colts, with very little time remaining for the Eagles to score. Then that last “hail Mary” pass by Luck was batted down in the end zone and the game was over.

For all our early injuries I'm fine with 2-1. The most important thing about today aside from the win is obviously Carson coming out of his first game back injury free. With the rust game in rainy conditions out of the way ... and Alshon/Ajayi back next week, things are pointing up. Plus Dallas looks like crap ... that always brightens my day! :)

Totally agreed with this!

I watched the full highlights to catch up and....yeah....Carson had a little rust. And his line sure didn’t help at points.

But.... he did some things out there I really did not expect to see yet (and worried might not be seen at all again). He moved well out there. Had the fight he shows and had his legs along with him for the ride. So so good to see.

There was a lot of slop in the game. But he just pops the ball out there and makes this offense look so much better with his play.

There is cleanup to do....but he showed that there’s is something very much worth the clean up effort. That’s huge!!

I miss Dawkins

Luck didn't throw that hail mary pass. They brought in their backup for that throw. WTF was that??? Trying to not hurt Luck's stats after throwing 5-6 easy checkdowns in the final 60 seconds vs total prevent defense?? Or does luck just not have the arm for that throw???

No D
No O
But lots of penalties.
Mills is seriously overrated. Mr Penalty
I don't get the no d comment. They got an extremely short field twice and got 16 points. And the two biggest plays they gave up were a pi on an underthrown ball and a broken play scramble by luck. The yardage and time of possession differences were huge. The eagles outplayed them but it ended up close. It happens.

Worry of the shoulder would be my guess.

Thank you for the clarification, I was there and never even noticed! None of the guys even mentioned it on the way home.

Nothing wrong with 2-1.

They got Goedert involved more, which was nice to see. Now to teach him how to run block without getting flagged.

Props to Matthews and Smallwood. They've gotten a decent amount of shit over the years, but he caught both of his targets in limited action and Smallwood ran harder than I've ever seen out of him, maybe he felt Adams creeping up behind him.

Nice game from Barnett and Cox, don't know if Graham is still working his way back from his injury, but hope he picks it up as the season progresses.

I don't notice Sidney Jones much, which I take as a good thing.

Perhaps I should have said that the Eagles D was suspect in the middle of the field but tightened up in the red zone. It seemed as though the Colts owned the middle of the field on too many drives. Too damn many penalties.

On a sloppy day, limited on skill players and showing some struggles (red zone scoring) they also had a 17 play, 11+ minutes drive to take the lead and eat most of the 4th Q.

Yeah...it was sloppy at points on both sides. We got lots of benefit from Colts errors (and surely a boost from Nelly’s foot not being checked).

But they stayed together through all that slop and brought it home.

Not something that shows in stats....but it huge and such a telltale to having Wentz back.

Hard to agree with that even. Luck didn't get to 100 yards passing until very late and the run game was pretty much nonexistent other than the luck scramble.

He's not 100%. His shoulder is still messed up that he can't make that throw. He looked like Sam Bradford out there yesterday, checked down on most of his passes. It's because he can't make a throw with any real velocity beyond 30-35 yards.

Yeah, it was probably most evident on the ball he throw that Mcleod almost picked off.

Bennett didn't get a lot of recognition, but he was blowing up a lot of pass attempts and flushing Luck out of pocket more often than not when he was in there.

Sid Jones had one play (I think it was in the 4th quarter) on a screen pass where he took on a block from an offensive lineman, and tackled the ball-carrier with one arm. He was really impressive yesterday. I didn't even know who the Colt's slot receiver was because Jones had him locked up all day.

I was impressed with Wentz's movement skills, pulling off the same Houdini shit he was doing before the injury. Once he shakes the rust off, watch out!

I like that we're winning ugly games early in the season, shows that we have grit and I think will pay big dividends later in the year. Gotta get the pass defense better though, I'm a little concerned as a unit they're in the bottom 5 of the NFL. On the bright side their red zone defense has been outstanding for the most part.

He still looks like a shell of his former self, which is really sad because when he's healthy he really is one of the elite QBs in the league IMO.
