Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic are playing doubles in the night match on Friday, against Jack Sock and Kevin Anderson.

Watching on the DVR right now.

Last year, Federer and Nadal teamed up in doubles. They lost a set 6 - 1, lol.

Fed joker lost!!

In a 10 point match tiebreak, though. Anything can happen in a tiebreak.

FED got his serve broken in the 2nd set, and lost his serve point in the match tiebreak.

Before John McEnroe was introduced, the PA said "You can't be serious, Chicago."

I'm watching Sunday's matches on the DVR.

They started out with Sock / Isner vs. FED / Alexander Zverev.

Sock has played in all 3 doubles matches (with Kevin Anderson on Friday, and Krygios on Saturday).

FED and Zverev are hitting great returns.

They get the early break on a spectacular lob by Zverev, to go up 2 - 1.

This is the first match of the day (Sunday)!

Ever since they announced that it would be in Chicago this year, I thought about going.

I thought I would go to the Cubs @ White Sox game one day, and the Laver Cup another day.

It would only be my 2nd time to Chicago. It would be cool to see the Guaranteed Rate field. Wiki says it's also called the G-Spot. This G-Spot must be easier to find.

Looking at the format, it seems really fun to have gone to the final day of the Laver Cup.

I doubt the Laver Cup will be in the USA next year.

I was kind of burned out after having gone to a lot of sports in 2016. Maybe I should have had more resolve and gone to the Laver Cup in 2018, because I don't know when it will be in the USA next.

It's really fun seeing Sock and Isner play doubles, and course also FED in any format.

I had thought about going to one of the weekend days, earlier in the year.

I only wanted to go if a certain other friend went, though.

In hindsight, even if he didn't go, I still should have gone.

Is the Laver Cup ATP approved or is it just a semi serious exhibition?? ATP Page is not covering it and so far YouTube only has been giving highlights

Doesn't count towards their points so doubt it is ATP approved.

According to WIKI, it was created by Fed's management company and a few others

That was a great event. Anderson beat Djokovic in singles.

For Sunday:

Sock and Isner looked like they were going to lose, when they were down 9 - 7 in the match tiebreak. That was amazing to see them come back and beat Federer and Zverev.

Also, Federer looked like he was going to lose the singles match to Isner. He had lost a lot of important points during this weekend, and to me, it didn't look like this would be any different, in the 2nd set tiebreak.

But he pulled a comeback out. I did not see that coming either, because FED just didn't seem to have that luck / clutch this weekend.

Isner has now lost 9 official matches in the past year or two while holding match point. I think add 2 more after these exhibition matches against Zverev on Saturday, and Federer on Sunday. I feel bad for him.

And, in another example of a comeback, Zverev looked like he was going to lose to Kevin Anderson, before winning the match tiebreak.

During the trophy ceremony, this was the most I'd heard Borg speak in a long time. I never saw him play. So to me, it was nice just to hear him talk.

I've heard Rod Laver talk more in the past 10 - 20 years, than Borg. Borg is usually at these big events, but he rarely would speak.

This event is at the perfect time of the year. After the US Open, before the final Masters 1000 events, and before the MLB Playoffs.

Kevin Anderson was the best overall player. He did great in Doubles. He beat Djokovic in Singles.

That doubles team of Isner and Sock was fun to watch. Isner serving and Sock putting away volleys seemed unstoppable.

Thinking about it more, I really want to see a doubles team of Isner and Kevin Anderson, The two tallest players with great serves.

Yeah, it's not ATP approved. It's still fun, though.

FED was coaching Zverev during one of the changeovers!

I read that FED also coached Djokovic during Djokovic's match with Anderson. I missed that part.

McEnroe tried to coach Tiafoe. He said he was standing too far back, and to try bring the opponent in. "Do you think you can do that?"

Tiafoe shook his head.

"NO?? Well, you've got to do something different".

The whole thing looked suspiciously semi serious to me. No losers at the end of the day. Tennis and the audience wins.

Fed looked like he was toying with Kyrgios. Even at this age of Fed serves well he can cause some mortal damage with his backup game. Let’s see what happens at the year end tournament

FED looked average for most of the weekend. He was losing a lot of the important points.

He came through at the very end of the Isner match.
