He seems like an incredible football mind and also a great motivator. His impact in Dallas has seemingly already been huge

Great DB coach, not a great D-coordinator. Would have liked to keep him as DB coach but I doubt he would have accepted a demotion.

Too many wide open receivers and lack of communication with players over last couple years....

He wasn't holding players accountable leading to the locker room getting away from him... Maybe he's learned from that...

All in all, I think he can be a good coach in this league as a DC or even HC... He needs to hold players accountable... If he does a better job in that area, he should have a lot of success because he's a very smart coach...

Eye of the beholder, and somebody having to take the fall for the fall from the rarefied heights that D was at for a half decade.

Didn't seem like he could really deal with all the personalities and players on D didn't seem to buy into his plan. I believe a few times the DBs just said, "F it" and did their own thing.

Dallas is getting a lot of hype on D (in fact I have them starting against Seattle) but every offense they've played thus far is terrible. Olson and the starting LT for Carolina were playing injured, injured in that game, and are now out indefinitely and out for the season. Carolina's O-Line is atrocious. The Giants are an absolute mess and outside of Beckham there's not a lot there (Barkley is a rook), and the third team they face in Seattle... is completely horrid on O - if it wasn't for Wilson they'd be lucky to go 2-14.

So my verdict is still out on Dallas' D... Detroit is 'meh' and Houston has the worst HC in the NFL and a worse line than Seattle's...

I think Dallas' first offensive powerhouse matchup is prob. Philly in week 10 or Atlanta week 11. Woofta.

Well when a man is starving even spoiled food is great.

Dallas has not had a very good defense in a little bit so having a little "life" always makes people see the shiny through the black. Case in point, Dallas Defense over the past 4 years and 2 games.

2014 14th in Yards per game, 18th in scoring
2015 16th in yards per game, 17th in scoring
2016 19th in yards per game, 28th in scoring
2017 25th in yards per game, 19th in scoring
and for the short 2018 ( 2 games )
2018 29th in yards per game, 30th in scoring

even a average coach could make people see all roses on that defense.

Kris Richard is a great DB coach and a average DC. He knows how to get the back end working and producing, his work on the front end was sub par. Average for Dallas is a massive upgrade on that defense though. Also don't expect his "blitz" packages to show up every week. He drew up some of the WORST blitz packages i have ever seen.

Gus Bradley and Dan Quinn where solid gold, KR was bronze at best but not horrible by any means. Seattles Defense went from top 1-2 in the league in the Quinn/Bradley era to what? 22nd in KR era. Yeah. It was a DRASTIC drop off. That is the reason he was let go and also the fact he couldn't control his guys.

I totally expect KR to have learned from his big mistakes and correct them now that he has a new Locker room to work with.

Did you just make all of those numbers up?
Dallas D has been a little better than people have given them credit for the last couple of years. No they aren't likely to be the #3 defense in the league this year, but so far they have been at least "by the numbers". That being said I expect a little bit of a regression today, but that's mostly because of RW always being tough on us and playing in a very tough road spot. If Gregory plays and continues to be as disruptive as he was in the preseason and the safety and slot corner play isn't poor you may be surprised if you haven't watched them lately. Then add in David Irving in a couple of weeks and with health this should be a top 10 defense with the potential to be more.

2018: Dallas 4th in yards 3rd in scoring; Seattle 21st YPG 20th PPG
2017: Dallas 8th in YPG 13th PPG; Seattle 11th in YPG 13th PPG
2016: Dallas 14th in YPG 5th PPG; Seattle 5th in YPG 3rd PPG

On your other comments, thanks. Seems the consensus is Richard was a very good DB coach in Sea, but disappointing in Sea as a DC. From watching and listening to him my gut tells me this is his last year as a DB coach and another DC opportunity is on the horizon for him next year. Good Luck today
