Probably, this one had them basically even. If Purdue or any other Big10 west team had been just 4 spots lower it would have been a tie. Across 14 teams, that's basically nothing.

Purdue was a surprise being up that high. They were like 3-9 or some shit the year before.

I did the math for one, I can't say I actually care enough about comparing the 2 for the others.
You got me intrigued so I went back 10 years. They're really close

B10W averages out to 44.4
ACC Coastal to 46.1

2 teams in the west have higher average rankings than any team in the coastal but the coastal is better in the middle and bottom. Not surprising

2017:

B1G West: 76.73
ACC Coastal: 75.96

2016:

B1G West: 74.29
ACC Coastal: 77.84

2015:

B1G West: 74.56
ACC Coastal: 75.02

2014:

B1G West: 73.09
ACC Coastal: 74.35

B1G West Avg: 74.6675
ACC Coastal Avg: 75.7925

I only looked this up because I figured it would be close. But in 3 of the last 4 years the ACC Coastal has been better according to Sagarin. And it's off to a better start this year as well. But as I figured, you'd dismiss it.

Also, those facts you laid out, are pretty irrelevant. Bowl games? lmao.
Its close even over the last 10. West slightly better overall on BCF but thats sur yo then having the 2 teams with the highest average of the 14 as opposed to overall depth

It's mostly Miami and VT that have been let downs lately. They use to keep that division more respectable. Both are teams that should generally stay and be ranked ahead of Iowa and Wisconsin, but I guess Clemson is sucking up all the talent in the area lately.

So what you're telling me is even your metrics show the B1G West is better than the ACC Coastal. Cool.

And I bet your ignorant ass still couldn't legit show it.

Except the B1G West wasn't a thing until 2014. I don't see the point in going back a decade?

It was just an arbitrary point for bigger sample size . Numbers are close any way you slice em

Sure, I get that, but the debate was the B1G West vs. ACC Coastal. Nebraska wasn't even in the B1G for 3 of those seasons, let alone the B1G West.

Yep I didn't count them. I went back ten years as a larger sample because 4D20 was taking about strength of teams in the divisions so I didn't figure it mattered if they were actually in that division at the time. I was working under the assumption that yeah strength was the core of the debate . Maybe I was wrong lol

So you show me one metric that rates them extremely close. I demonstrate that, when stacked up against other conferences, the B1G has performed better, and H2H in that timeframe, the B1G has dominated. But I can see how the Coastal "sure as shit isn't the B1G West", as your idiot bama friend said.

You used bowl game record, probably the dumbest thing to use. And citing top 10 teams, another useless stat. Nothing about what you referenced tells the entire story.

15 pages deep? I'm assuming y'all have solved this "mystery," right?

If not, let me help you ... They're a good football team. I know ... this is shocking to some of you, but it's true. Jimbo has them playing good football. OK, y'all can move on now.

There's also H2H, which I'm sure since you're pushing your typical anti-B1G agenda, is also dumb or useless.

B1G West > ACC Coastal over the last decade. The end.

Yes, I like to use all relevant data when coming to a conclusion, not a couple hand picked data points. Also, the B1G West hasn't been around for a decade, which is why using that as a time frame is dumb.

I think it's funny you think I have an anti B1G agenda. When you're one of the biggest B1G homers on this board.

oops. I fucked up again. I didn't read the thread to see what it was actually about. Thread titles are misleading around here. My bad!

You are the worst person about cherry-picking stats on this board. Sometimes efficiency metrics matter, other times they don't. Sometimes Sagarin matters, other times it's Massey that matters. I used basically the same metrics every time.

The B1G West by name hasn't been around for a decade, but so what? You know it doesn't serve your narrative so you have to dismiss stats because of a name change? Other than Nebraska, all of those teams have been in the B1G for over a decade, and this is now Nebraska's 8th year, so it's not a huge stretch. A decade is what was used before you came into the argument, so don't come in acting like people have to adjust to serve your narrative.

Call me a homer for what? Ranking michigan at 11th? Thinking the B1G had a better argument to be the top conference coming into the season when tons of national analysts agreed? You take every single opportunity to bash the B1G as long as you can cherry pick stats to back up your narrative. This has been the case for years.

Hahahahahahaha. Sorry if I don't want to argue about something that wasn't even a thing.

And yes, you're probably the biggest homer on this board.
